Album description

es This text is not available in your chosen language, we are displaying it in its original language.
Primer E.P. del proyecto solista del guitarrista
 Pablo Chavez (ex-Funeral Funny).

 y el ex-Fun People Gori
 -actualmente en Fantasmagoria-
 en guitarras acústicas.

The Intro prepares you for a taste of what is to come, and this album from what I can discern has a very strong and important message to make. Yo no habla ni entiende Español bien. But I never understood England's dispute with Argentina, I felt even as young as I was at the time, that it was unnecessary, just the same way I feel now about the Middle East. The American voice samples speak volumes.

Fin de Siglo is a hard, thrashing, screaming attack of rock noise. Totally not appealing to my sensibilities but I will endure because there is a very strong point to this EP and one that is still understated and ignored, still swept under the carpet. The end of the century, was supposed to bring in a brave, new world. A paradigmmatic shift of postmodern ethics that would sweep the world through the connections made through the exponential rise of cyberspace, i.e. the technical fix, talk to each other. But communication seems nearly ten years after to be even worse and more confused than it ever was.

Abuso Infantil should be clear to all what it means without translating, and I see it all around me. Working in social care has shown me what a pitiful collection of people in England seem to be at the helm of a system that doesn't work, because it is full of people just doing a job and not really caring. My family has fostered several children at risk, boys being beaten, girls being drugged and raped and nothing is done about it without people on the ground 'sticking their nose' in and doing something about it. Then it changes, because it is done not as a 9-5 job, but because someone cares enough to stand up and protect those who need it. Even still, it is an uphill struggle. Though they seem to be tolerated and accepted. That I don't understand.

La Respuesta, is about people taking responsibility for those around them and not just their immediate families, that should go on without saying but for people in their vicinity, in the locality. Self accountability should be automatically in place, accountability for your community needs to be worked on and encouraged. What seems to happen is that people turn away, and deny that it is happening when it's right under their noses. That I don't understand.

Esperanza, hope... I have little on the whole, for the whole. People are too self-involved and more interested in their favourite TV programmes to be bothered saving lives from being destroyed. Over thirty years on and it still goes on. Where is there hope to be had in a world that seems so bad. That I don't understand.

Having said my piece, and made my peace. I will still stand up and resolutely defend those who need it. This EP is rounded up with a much more accessible rock sound for me. Nice work, harsh music for a harsh subject, it needs to be said and disseminated AND STOPPED. There is no choice and there shouldn't be room for it to occur. Too many people just doing a job without really being bothered about the overall outcome. So, the Outro sounds a little sad for me, for I honestly feel that there is little hope. The cards are stacked against me constantly. That I also, don't understand...

Muy buen laburo loco!

Mis impresiones:

Intro:
I really like the idea and the message, but perhaps multiple overlapping speeches aren't necessarily "easy to listen"... luckily maybe that's the whole point, making you pay attention ;-)

Fin de siglo & Abuso Infantil:
Liked the lyrics and the interpretation in general. I'm not really used to the genre but I've enjoyed those dense drums in the background and the putrid guitars.

La respuesta & Esperanza:
The distorted vocals and the hiphop-ish pace worked really well in my ears.

Outro:
The gaps added an interesting sensation of anticipation and the naked acoustic strings near the end warmly wraped the whole idea.
