Au lendemain de la sortie de Fake Memories, en février 2008, commence déjà l'élaboration de Floating Wood, achevé en mars 2009. Ce nouvel ouvrage, cette fois, se veut plus acoustique, plus proche des racines du rock pratiqué avec allégresse depuis les débuts du groupe. Après des années de travail dans un registre plus électrique et électronique, Blue Chill a voulu aller voir ailleurs, explorer des contrées jamais foulées par les membres du groupe. Floating Wood est un essai sur la musique folk, ses différentes déclinaisons, ses multiples définitions possibles. Tout en s'affranchissant des formats conventionnels repris par la plupart des groupes à guitares du genre, cet album, aussi expérimental qu'épique, est une pièce aux multiples lectures mêlant donc musique pop et psychédélique, ballades mélancoliques et dissonances tourmentées.

Remarque: L'album a été réalisé uniquement avec des voix (humaines et animales) et des guitares folk.

Most Interesting

Loved "Whales" which was a melancholic sounding song, kind of like the whale song itself, very deeply blue. This one was more experimental and interesting besides being beautiful and including our beloved whales at the end. "Moon in June" seemed to float right off of the previous track. Most of these tracks seem to blend well together and maintain a relaxed tempo. Some of the tracks on this album I didn't care for - but I found them all quite interesting. Some were quite beautiful.

At first I didn't care for that male vocal but I have to admit as the songs progressed it grew on me and I found that it suited the melodies quite well. He was a rather laid back, almost lazy singer, mostly experimental and not quite folk, but with his acoustic guitar, and other instruments, and earthy sounds injected into these tracks, this singer had a great deal of charm. Over all I would say that this album is worth a listen.

Very Nice

A better effort than their already impressive "Fake Memories", this album is great and begs to be listened to. Fans of soft rock should flock to this and try it out. "Whales" is an especially good song.
