Vivaldi's original has never been one of my favourite musical suites, though that's not to say it is good or bad, I think I just got to hear it too much and familiarity breeds contempt, so we say. So, even if this is an electronic butchering, I wouldn't mind. What sells it for me is that it is electronic, that's my proverbial bag, so to speak. Comparatively, I instantly think of Isao Tomita and his various reworkings of classical pieces, Holst's 'Planets', which I loved as a child (in it's original form and electronic reconstruction), his fantastic rendering of Ravel's 'Bolero' (again, in both forms), another childhood favourite, amongst many others.
Anyway, that's enough small talk. L'Autunno is OK, dare I say a bit drab but perhaps in some senses well captured. Like I've said, I'm not a fan of the original. La Primavera sounds like a pipe organ in a fairground, to be fair and then scatters into a minimalist interpretation. Then ebbs and flows betwixt the two. Kind of spaced out, like Tomita's 'Bermuda Triangle', but without the exactitude. I quite like L'Inverno, more precise and listenable in its own right. Similarly, again with L'Estate, perhaps it is down to better production. I cannot quibble over such electronic technicalities, nor to be honest, a just comparison with the original. On the face of it, it is a reasonable piece of electronica, which is how I will score it, regardless of its correlation to the original.
Made me think of Christmas Eve and Santa and Rodolphe the red nose reindeer and the other reindeer's are taking Santa on his sledge filled with Christmas presents for all the children of this world and planet. And traveling at the speed of light over the cities and countrysides and to every house, home and children home in this wonderful time of years. And all the children no matter what time its is in this world. He does it when they are fast asleep in bed. And they wake up to find such great gifts that make them smile, feel great and outstandingly happy.
Makes me think of Spring time. Where the bulbs and flowers are start to bloom and grow. And the children are laughing and smile and playing and young lovers are dating and holding hands. And old married couples are bliss fully content and happy with their lots in live. And the young tress are start to shoot and grow and form beautiful leaves. And the grass is a rich green colour and the air is cool and a light breeze is felt on your face. And the sun is in the sky and not a cloud is about. You feel happy, content and a peace.
Winter time when the day ends quickly and the curtains in your home and drawn to keep the drafts and bitter cold north winds and snow outside. And everyone is wrapped up snug and warm in thick winter clothing, with wool hats and insulated gloves. And when it snows outside it looks like a picturesque winter wonder land.
Summer is the warmest and the most glorious of the four seasons in its special way, between spring and autumn. As the summer solstice, the days are longest and the nights are the shortest, with day-lengthening the most. And the sweet aura and aromas of the flowers in full bloom. And the fields are full of wheat and sunflowers and other great things the farmers have grown.
