Album description

The Mechanist is about the kind of transformative process of mental states discussed by Robert Anton Wilson, Phillip K Dick, and others, which was purportedly the true goal of alchemy.

In the ultraminimalist style of Infocalypse's previous albums, it is composed almost completely of edited synthspeech, with audio effects taking the place of most things normally done via instruments.

The first track Glossolalia (VALIS I WASS) does actually have some interesting things to say, not saying though that I agree with it all. Zebra Stripes (Past B in the Direction of A) might have been better off directing itself otherwise. As I know from experience, there can be too much of a good thing, regardless of what it is saying. Chapel Perilous (Uncanny Valley) underneath the speech, deep in the valley there is a reasonable soundscape, but by now the predominating voice is still calling the tune and even I have more inflexion than this (and that's saying something, though to be fair to myself, even I have my moments, without blowing my own trumpet). Spiral Out (A Pythagorean Speaks of the Square Root of All Evil) is the best so far, making no apparent sense whatsoever. And to finish, Quantum Psychology (At Times Perhaps The Fool) speaks volumes. Interesting experiment and thankfully brief in experience, not titles, which added to the overall presentation magnificently.
