Prog Rock has always exerted a strange fascination with me. My earliest memory of it is Procol Harem covering J.S. Bach.
There is a great book called 'Rocking the Classics' by Edward Macan, if you happen to see it.
I don't know why more bands don't, what?, use the classical formations of concerto, symphony, canon, or fugue.
Here is an excellent example of a rock band showing off a bit of classical knowledge. It isn't a bad thing to have an awareness of various forms of music besides intro, lyrics, chorus, bridge, chorus, blah blah blah.
Experimentation, man, experimentation.
Dysharmonic Symphony is an excellent example of what can be accomplished in this genre. Mostly fallen out of favor in these post-punk days, but demonstrating that there can be more to music that three minute bursts of angst.
I'm rambling, but this is a superior album.
Thanks.
Mike
