Surprisingly good

A french album of "Negro Spirituals". It made me laugh at first, but it was surprisingly good.

Definitely not how I'm used to hearing most of the songs sung (Because of the accent) but it did not detract too much from the songs.

If you just heard a thunderous gagging sound..it was me..choking on my own pious critiques...I am notorious for my panning of "boring" Christian music..... this album reinforces the inaccuracy and blindness I have harboured thru those wilderness years. There is beauty here..there is melody here..there is love here..there is hope here..Dear Hybris and I are blushing very red at the moment...

Looking for another artist, I happened on this album. I'm listening to it as I write this, and am filled with such melancholy and nostalgia. This album takes me right back to when I was in the High School Choir. We made a record, which I still have. Many of the songs are the same.

These kids do a wonderful job. The harmony is just beautiful, as are the arrangements of the songs. Bravo!! Thanks for the beautiful music!!!

I did not expect to find an album of French kids singing American Negro Spirituals. It was very awkward listening to the first four songs of this album. But I think it's great! I'm in favor of cultural exchange!

I thought this album could use an English review. This is very beautiful music. This choir worked very hard to achieve such great harmony. It shows in their eloquence. The songs they sing fills my heart with joy and yours will to.

"Die kleinen Saenger von Montigny" sind das, was man unter einem klassischen Knabenchor versteht. Und fuer Franzosen singen sie sogar ein ganz verstaendliches Englisch - da habe ich schon Schlimmeres gehört. ;-)
Ich persoenlich habe mich über einige Titel gefreut, die ich auch schon mal gesungen habe. So ueber "O Bone Jesu" von C.G. Reissiger, "Soon and very soon" und "Let us break bread together". Daneben sind eine Reihe von Stuecken dabei, die mir jetzt nichts sagten, aber auch reizvoll sind. Gut, "Go tell it to the mountain" ist ja bekannt. Steht ja auch im EG. ;-)
Die Arrangements der Spirituals - Gospels? Ich muesste nochmal den Unterschied nachschlagen - sind jedenfalls recht gut und die Aufnahme an sich auch obwohl da was von "inedite" steht bei der Albumbeschreibung. Das Ganze ist eine Best-Of-Compilation von bisher wohl drei Alben, die die rausgebracht haben.
Bei den klassischen Stuecken sind neben dem Reissiger auch andere unbekanntere Sachen dabei - "Jubilemus Exultemus" von Couperin, "Psalm 61" von Haydn, "Nocturnes" von Mozart, huch? italienisch? Tatsaechlich. Sylvain Zimmer? Kennt den jemand als Komponisten? Kann natuerlich ein franzoesischer Komponist sein, der total hipp ist aber hier eher nicht so. ;-)
Jedenfalls durchaus eine Entdeckung.
