REFLEXIONS

For me, one of the real joys of New Age music is the complex, multi-layered sound achieved by many of its artists. In the album Reflexions, Patroux has produced a collection of songs that excel in enveloping the listener in a dense, polyphonic sound-field. Yet the sound remains tuneful and never relies on mere layering to achieve interest. This is an especially strong album with all tracks now in heavy rotation on my playlists. Especially fine tracks include Journey to Milky Way, Message of the Angel of Love, Spirit of the Tribe, and Flying Chords but I think that each track has something to offer potential listeners. I enthusiastically recommend this collection.

For a while I thought I could fly as I listened to "Journey to Milky Way"s beautiful uplifting melody. Patroux uses lots of high tones with his compositions to put the breezes beneath your wings. 'Yes,' he says, 'Soar, higher - float above the maelstroms below.'
"Spirit of the Tribe" was a more earthly flavored song with a pleasing beat and a lovely melody. I really liked that one. And "Cocktail" was a nice contemporary jazz tune and "Manege Sous..."was a bubbly, happy song. My only complaint is that sometimes the synthesizer seemed to reach painfully high notes in some of these songs but overall these tunes were spectacular.

I have most of Patroux's music from jamendo as I am a huge fan of Tangerine Dream. I very much enjoy his music and style but the Reflexions album is something very special! Synthetic Power is my favorite, however all the rest are very close behind. Wonderful work, Patroux. I am your newest Number 1 fan!
