This is our second installment of Julandrew's musical endeavor. Some songs are new, some songs are older. Our inspiration comes from everyone out there in interscape land that have used our one song Crazy As for their podcasts, websites, and videos. We hope you enjoy.
- Julie & Andrew
Thank you for this beautiful piece of music, I especially like the warm overall sound and Julie's voice. One of the best examples that exceptional music doesn't have to come with large studios and expensive equipment - it just needs heads full of ideas and talent which the both of you definately got.
By the way I somewhat instantly got reminded on the soundtrack of the movie "Lost In Translation" by "It's Easy", happens to be one of my favorites. ;) That song also is my favorite from your album, those calm e-piano-like synthchords at the beginning are really nice.
The only thing I've noticed is that sometimes Julie's vocals seems a bit off-tuned at times in high and loud passages like in "Closure" (i.e. 1:34-1:49min), I have no other word for it but I'm sure you know what I mean. But it's nothing big.
I wish you all the best with your music and that you reach many more people with it.
- Sebastian / Chill Carrier
I dont know that I would say this collection is "not worth a listen" as seems to be the only rating that a 3 will give.
But for myself I dont find the music or vocals as pleasant to listen to as the tune "Crazy as" which I found to be a great tune.
To me the music is nothing special & I think that while the vocals were just fine for "Crasy As", somehow I dont think I would want to hear those vocals on an entire album.
This new contribution is just a bit, meh...
I really enjoyed this. You have a very beautiful and pleasant voice. Just a guitar and your voice, and the magic is here, no need for anything else!
Congrats!=)
I found this album really nice. Very sweet music and really nice to hear to. All in all, beautiful music.
However, I must point out that the off-key moments manage to take the magic away. Polishing those would make this a really excellent album.
Thanks for making free beautiful music.
I think I like this album. I love the instrumentation. Simple, but very effective. I'm not sold on the vocals yet. On one hand, they have this great honest feeling. It sounds like very little was done to tweak them after they were recorded, and it sounds like the vocalist isn't trying to make her voice sound any different than it naturally is. At the same time, this lack of polish on the vocals takes away some of the potential depth.
Overall, though, I really like this album. I think the vocals will grow on me. Looking forward to more releases.
Still absorbing the tracks, but at first listen, strikes me as a lot like Frente/Angie Hart. (That's a compliment). People in the US might remember her in Splendid.
Anyway, great to see people having fun and making good music whilst bypassing commercial exploitation!
There is this not-too-well-known genre in our country (ok and in others, too) of music that is simple, crisp, smart, honest and happy (even when it's sad). Belle & Sebastian is one of my favorites among many. Julandrew are in that group for me. Mind you, they don't sound just like B&S but that's just fine as I'm sure that's not what they're aiming to achieve. Great job and I look forward to hearing even more!
That type of album, and music, as soon as you start to check it out, you want to sit with a permanent big smile, across your face, and tap your foot, to this very catchy, charming, very easy to listen to and enjoy quirky pop, indie, acoustic, electric guitar, instrumental, trumpet, album. Filled with Julie's sweet, wholesome vocals, that flavours this album from start to end. Her bright, sunny vocals captivate and stimulate your senses and make you enjoy this fresh, airy, entertaining, homely sounding album and music. I loved the vocal harmonies on this album. Very breezy and homely feel to this vibrant.
