Hey,

first off, I don't want to pour gasoline on any "flame wars", for I couldn't care less about them.

However, I really don't see how some people can't find "metal" elements in this. You see, "metal" and "rock" elements are just elements: this is definitely not a record adhering to and restricted by genres. Yes, it's obviously home-produced, the vocals have room for improvement (although sadly I don't understand French all that well, therefore I can't comment on the lyrics).

However, the album is full of odd-time beats, which is very cool in the time when everything (mainstream) seems to be bound to a 1/1 time signature... And the tracks are full of lucid phrases, which may, however, profit from live musicians capable of bringing them to the fullest of their potential.

I agree that the album sounds a bit naive because of a few sounds used (which kind of resemble general midi) and the whole project might profit from a better mixing and recording equipment.

But all in all I think it's a great effort, and I love the banjo and the ranting guitars :))

I hope you'll keep on working.

Cheers

While there seems to be some differences in opinion about the tags used ,I do hear elements of all the tags.I agree that this would probably sound better live. But That really has no bearing on my take of what I am currently listening to. This is in my opinion far from boring music . It has life and the time changes are a wonderful change from the same old clique . I have to admit ,that My lack of the ability to understand French had a little to do with my rating . But the music is really good ,and is something that I will listen to again .I hope that you will continue making music like this .

Creative songwriting, virtuosic musicianship, and operatic stylings characterize Solitude Moderne. Generally this type of music, specifically prog-metal along the lines of such acts as Dream Theater and Symphony X, hasn't really struck a chord with me since I was in high school, but I can tell that this music would really benefit from a set of live samples. Much of this is clearly electronic, particularly the cymbal and drum sounds, which I don't mind (I use it myself), but because of the mix and mastering, the sounds used wind up bogging down the whole production. The songwriting itself is great, clearly coming from a capable artist, but because of the mix, I'm afraid this record won't be able to reach its preferred audience.

I like it ..In a time when songs can be boring...this is different and we all need different once in awhile...Ive listened to mainstream rock for thirty years and when i come across something like this, I'm jumping on it!...Thanks....Aiydan Blue

Also,love the guitar work! :)
Keep it up!

Good rock opera

The soft guitar arpeggios on 'L'ombre de soi-meme' was the best part of the album, in my opinion. There were some interesting odd-time signatures in the first track, too.

I find the music actually quite boring, the lyrics are more interesting.

I didn't see a lot of metal or rock in it, which is not an issue by itself but the tags you used to categorize your album do not seem very appropriated.

Sorry to criticize your first album, hope it won't discourage you to do better next time.

Bonne continuation!

This is a very special "chanson". Some you have never heard before, I am sure. It combines many different things into music that is hard to limit by any genre description.

Still my feelings are rather mixed. I love the crazy naive piano of "Les lendemains", but when it continues throughout the whole piece - it is too much.

The sound of the recording appears to me that of a home studio. It would be difficult to find fault with the played instrumental parts and the vocals, something in the way the result is mastered adds to its being ...boring. Sorry.

There is definitely little hard rock, metal and just a touch of gothic, it is rather alternative (the title song "Solitude moderne" - an example of that).

This is my take, of course. Tastes are not to be disputed (or it leads to (at least -flame) wars).
