First. I could mute all other instruments and listen to pure melodic song on pure melodic languange i don't understand but I love sound of it. Ottilie voice and singing are absolutelly magical. NOw I can imagine again that i unmuted guitar and accordian and I got original jazzy incredibly atmospheric sound.
Thank You. This was really incredible sound experiance.
And Thanks to balthaz for recommanding this to me.
Profound, captivating, strong, sensitive, graceful, heavenly, sweet, female vocals. With perfect acoustic guitar to accompany her, as she sings.(and an accordion in Parcimonie, that sounds fantastic) A lovely Chanson album. That will go straight to your heart and soul. As you listen to this beauty sing.
I think it proves how good this is by the fact that so many English speakers are enjoying it. If something is good in another language it would be totally different in English. Don't spoil it, keep it in French only. What I learned in school helps me catch some of the words and understand some of the track names.
So glad that I came across this while browsing.
Did anyone notice that track one and the last track are the same? Track 1 is the wrong one. The correct song can be heard on MYSPACE. I checked.
LA LA LA.....LA
Je m'appelle John
A fantastic album, marrying a vocal freedom that reminds one of Regina Spektor, with complementary instrumentation that draws heavily from French folk music.
As I do not speak French, I did not understand the words, but the natural beauty and melody of the language itself shines through the wonderful voice of Ottilie, in a way that transcends linguistic barriers. Heartily recommended.
