Lliendes is the first album published by Xera, excluding the demo published in 2005, in which there were five of the ten songs of the album.
Lliendes maintains the same style of its promotional preview, mixing synthetic sounds with traditional melodies and songs from Asturias.
The 'physical' version, contains the whole work as it was conceived in its origin, forming a single unit, while the version available online (web and P2P networks) offers each song independently in Vorbis (OGG) and MP3 formats.
The whole process, from composition to final mastering, was done in Asturias with Xera's own resources, except the physical CD copies, made in Catalonia.
The work extends its previous Creative Commons license, (by - nc - sa) keeping the freedom of copying and incorporating the possibility of making derived works using the same license.
This is probably the best album I have so far encountered on Jamendo. Often albums have one or two really good songs, and the rest are a little mediocre. This is definitely not one of those albums. Pretty much every song is a great listen, excellent sound quality and execution. I was really struck by the sound. I couldn't figure out if it was all synthetic sounds, or if there were actual orchestral instruments. The execution sounded too perfect to be human, yet to real to be synthetic. My favorite track here is 1934. I love the quick bagpipe rhythm. The cover is attractive as well. Really, there is precious little that could have been improved on here. I can't wait to hear more.
Great ideas and proper execution, definitely a must listen.
Ok lets face it. Celtic and electro?! I mean come on the two dont go together!...at least until now. So really intersting music. Very enjoyable and a good download. you definatly wont be disapointed!
I was pleasantly surprised by Xera whose innovative take on folkmusic makes you sit down and take notice. I love the speed, the enthusiasm and lovely composition.
To Xera: Thankyou for making such wonderful music!
I've been listening to and playing Celtic Music for many years. In ten years of festival participation and a St Patricks Day parade or two under my belt, I've got to say I'm rarely impressed by a band's first efforts. Xera have nailed it. I've worked with some of the best bands out there and seen many many more live. This album is a superlative effort a fusion of very traditional sounds and non traditional, somewhat reminiscent of AfroCelt Soundsystem.
Xera perfectly blend traditional Asturian music with electronica. If you listen to this and your feet aren't moving around the floor, check your pulse - you are already DEAD!
This music borders on the profound, truly! The progressions from traditional to modern flow very naturally and never sound forced. A perfect marriage of all the passion of the Celts we are all used to, and those from the North of Spain which few of us even know existed.
To anyone who loves Celtic or Bluegrass music, put this one on and ROCK your neighbors!
Very interesting record combining bagpipe driven folk with synthetized samples. The first songs open the album in a swift folk pace, then the music becomes gradually slower and more new age-ish. The vocal parts are not very often and are written in their native Asturianu.
Lliendes surely deserves attention.
This is some of the best instrumental, techno, celtic stuff I have heard in the last several years. Too many 'celtic' artists just take a few lame bagpipe and fiddle tracks and layer on beats and rhythms that have nothing to do with the spirit of Celtic music.
Xera does NOT make that mistake.
I played the tune, "Lliendes" on Episode 11 of my podcast at paganchaosmagic.com
I am SURE I will be playing more on future podcasts. Xera, thank you for making my day brighter.
EN: This is one of the first albums I came across while discovering jamendo. The music is really great, I still enjoy listening to it. "Valdescabres" gives me goose bumps because of its' exciting mix, and I would like to dance to "Trasmerana" in a club one day.
But, I hate to admit it, there is a small glitch that kept me from reviewing it so far. I think that the sound is too shrill sometimes, especially when being played at a high volume. I even created a equaliser setting with reduced treble. But of course this album would be much more enjoyable if this wouldn't be necessary.
Anyway I hope to here more from you people!
As i listened to the album first of all i heared strong high sounds, that doeasn't sound pleasent... For me with this high sounds little queter and more subtly and this will be awesome album.
