Album description

http://www.mattipaalanen.com

One of the most important influences for Warehouse of Distant Dreams has always been the genius, extraordinary project Ulver from Norway. Lead by Kristoffer "Garm" Rygg, the norweigian wolves have managed to morph and twist their style throughout decades, and especially the later years and their take on post rock and experimental electronic darkwave is something Warehouse is aspiring to tackle.

It really resembles some Ulver songs, but generally the album is a little bit happier and smoother.

"Mind Matter" - the best track, I think. Really enjoyed it. Quite trippy and great ending.

"Dream Tide" and "Morphing" - sound like "Ante Andante"+"Surface" from Svidd Neger. Cool atmosphere. Live brass would make it much better (especially repetitions sound... synthetic)

"Insanity of a malicious kind" - resembles "Christmas" from Blood Inside (bells, drums and brass)

"Ice sculptures" - nice, organic music.

"Thousand and one nights" - irregular rhytm and exotic tones make it interesting, but it's too repetitive (after a while rather boring than trippy)

"Beneath" - like "Surface" and "Christmas" from Ulver

"Wintersong" - don't like the sound of the distorted guitars (well, I'm also not a fan of Nattens Madrigal album)

"Fjord" - quite Ulverish, melancholic harmony ;) (the beginning reminds me of "Nor saved" from Silencing the Singing and maybe also some other songs) voices are a little bit like in "Eittlane" or "Nattleite"

"Think it through" - dull sound, but nevertheless one of my favorites on the album

Very nice. Thank you.

A solid and skillfully produced album from this talented Finnish artist. Compared to artist's more 'newagish' production, these songs contain interesting darker tones and sharper edges, which just shows that as a creative artist Matti has psychological depth that will make his musical stories and soundtracks interesting also in the future.

I have to only say more than an Angelic composition.
