Now, this is really something different. Is this Spanish, Russian, rock, opera, classic, metal, Australian, oriental, everything together? Don't know, yet. All I know this almost blew up my head! Damn, who uploads such dangerous albums without warning? Is this real?

Super mix of music styles which made a stunningly entertaining album. Never having heard metal lined with a classical operatic voice I was enchanted. Devilishly enchanted. The album seemed to be a mix of heavy doses of metal/rock with jazz, opera, a great guitar, super voice, and very nice violin to cooperatively create a very original album. It started with a swinging boogie which I liked. I also liked those two interesting interludes at track #7 "Gunpowder Chant" and #10 "Qualms of Conscience" with its heavy piano. "Pink Noise Waltz" was a wonderful song to end with all the fine instrumentals and vocals and that tricky change in beat and melody down tempo to a sweet waltz.
I am not a big metal fan but I really liked this album for its uniqueness and great voice. I think this group would be really something to see on a stage in person.

There are so many genres of music in this album all blended together to give an amazing effect.

Like others words are not enough, just listen to it. I haven't stopped playing it since I downloaded it.

Try it and see!

if I could I would up the mark one to "freakin awesome"! I love the synthesis of jazz and rock, and the grand operatic feel of the album. Outstanding vocals, dynamic execution, overall brilliant.

Thank you for sharing so freely with the rest of us :-)

diaobolo or angel, pure, you'll see a angel flying, you'll see the war destroy life and at the end you think peace juste peace and" partage" thank you for your energie in this orchestral music.
Merci

To measure up to this music it could/should be either a XXL review or a simple "I'm astounded, don't know really what to say"

I tend to the latter and prefer to listen to this astonishing piece of audio art instead of struggling through a review that copes with it.

Thanks so much!

I don't really care for metal, so I almost signed off in thew first few seconds of Balrog Boogie... then the magic hit.

Powerful, demanding, almost loud enough to be raucous, and paired with a voice that probably has classical training, the music continued to play and I felt myself flattened against the wall.

Despite the booming beats, the music is there and well-composed, and that vocalist makes everything right. I would love to hear a tune from them where the instruments followed that voice, and the voice drove the melody.

Inside all of that is an incredible mix of genres and few of them are among my favorites, yet this group has earned a permanent place in my preferences.

Formidable! Amazing! Изумительно! Ball! Farligt!

OMG! I have a new Current favorite ... Great sound, Fantastic recording, composition, depth, amazing feeling woven into all the tracks.
I'm a fan ... hope there are many albums to come in the future.

My first time here and I was going to look for symphonic metal genre and I hear this Balrog Boogie blaring back at me. I had to check out the rest of Diablo Swing Orchestra. Do I hear Christianity? Music was dimensional!! Can't understand the high-pitched opera voice and would like the words so I could follow along, although what a voice!! It has variety in instrumentals and voice. Put something in the music store and I will buy.

Download it now you must. Now now now. OK, now. Just get it already.

I listen to a lot of music. A phenomenal amount of music. I'm a regular here, and also at T61 and Magnatune, and I scour the Internet on a near-daily basis looking for more music, ever more great bands.

Diablo Swing Orchestra has brought all that activity to a screeching halt.

This is without a doubt the single best album I've heard this year (move over, Circa Vitae!). It combines so many elements in a ridiculously seamless manner: metal, jazz, opera, gypsy, swing (duh), Middle Eastern, didgeridoo, and the list of styles just goes on and on and on. And it never gets old.

"Balrog Boogie" had me hooked from the very first second. It's a swingish little ditty that makes you hop and bop, even if you're decidedly not the hoppy boppy type (and I am not). I thought at first the soprano female lead would turn me off after a while, but much to my surprise it instead grew on me. Great opening track.

"Gunpowder Chant" combines the aforementioned Arabian feel with a didgeridoo, and my only complaint is that it's way too short. It does segway nicely into "Infralove," though, so I'll give it a pass.

And finishing up the album is "Pink Noise Waltz," a choppy, rousing tune that brings perfect closure to this perfect collection of songs.

This one will get regular spins in my playlist for a very, very long time to come. HAIL DSO!
