Now, this is really something different. Is this Spanish, Russian, rock, opera, classic, metal, Australian, oriental, everything together? Don't know, yet. All I know this almost blew up my head! Damn, who uploads such dangerous albums without warning? Is this real?

Super mix of music styles which made a stunningly entertaining album. Never having heard metal lined with a classical operatic voice I was enchanted. Devilishly enchanted. The album seemed to be a mix of heavy doses of metal/rock with jazz, opera, a great guitar, super voice, and very nice violin to cooperatively create a very original album. It started with a swinging boogie which I liked. I also liked those two interesting interludes at track #7 "Gunpowder Chant" and #10 "Qualms of Conscience" with its heavy piano. "Pink Noise Waltz" was a wonderful song to end with all the fine instrumentals and vocals and that tricky change in beat and melody down tempo to a sweet waltz.
I am not a big metal fan but I really liked this album for its uniqueness and great voice. I think this group would be really something to see on a stage in person.

if I could I would up the mark one to "freakin awesome"! I love the synthesis of jazz and rock, and the grand operatic feel of the album. Outstanding vocals, dynamic execution, overall brilliant.

Thank you for sharing so freely with the rest of us :-)

There are so many genres of music in this album all blended together to give an amazing effect.

Like others words are not enough, just listen to it. I haven't stopped playing it since I downloaded it.

Try it and see!

Wow, I feel like I've been to a metal concert, a dark circus, inside a gypsy vardo and an opera- all at once! Somethin' keeps telling me I should be corseted & wearing some fabulous, voluptuous skirts, along with a flamboyant feathered chapeau and stomping around a Romani gathering fire with a tambourine and high laced sh*t kickers on! ;D

I'm usually hesitant when it comes to operatic voices being mixed w/other genres of music, but in many places, it really works here. I love the gentleman's voice, the Romani-inspired melodies & rhythms, and the hard-rockin' guitars, but there's still a niggling part of me which still can't help but feel that in most places, if operatic vocals are interlaced w/other musical genres, they might do better as a backup accoutrement or descanted accent; as opposed to a lead vocal. (Y'all are really making the combination grow on me though- you do it so well! :)) I've heard it done in a few other places, (Nightwish, Cassandra Syndrome) & you guys are definitely up there in the ranks!
Plus, the weaving of gypsy influences really seems to complement the operatic aspects of your work, so nicely done there!

I pretty much like the whole album, but I think my faves are currently "D'Angelo" and "Gunpowder Chant." (We need more bellydance-able tracks here on Jamendo, no? :D) I was sucked in by the site's Top 10 list when I saw the title of "Balrog Boogie," and I think that's up there, too. Either way, when all is said and done, this is a kickass, raucously fun album which I highly anticipate introducing to my gothy AND Middle Eastern dance performing fiiends. ^_^

Kudos!

(PS, I -so- wanna hear you go more ME or Indian-themed rhythms & melodes, or pick up a Victorian or more circus-y slant to one or two of your future pieces! (Like a calliope or harpsichord! *beams*) I bet you'd do SteamPunk and dark circus WELL!! ♥, -N.

My first time here and I was going to look for symphonic metal genre and I hear this Balrog Boogie blaring back at me. I had to check out the rest of Diablo Swing Orchestra. Do I hear Christianity? Music was dimensional!! Can't understand the high-pitched opera voice and would like the words so I could follow along, although what a voice!! It has variety in instrumentals and voice. Put something in the music store and I will buy.

To measure up to this music it could/should be either a XXL review or a simple "I'm astounded, don't know really what to say"

I tend to the latter and prefer to listen to this astonishing piece of audio art instead of struggling through a review that copes with it.

Thanks so much!
and MORE MORE MOre!

This is probably the most innovative sound I have ever heard and definitely in a long while.

Think Rammstein, opera, metal, Spanish folk, gypsy...at the same time!

Fantabulous! And they are from Sweden too!
