I like the comment about Elven Lore by marac: fair point, but then it's by confession a bit of a mixed bag of music created over a four year period, a lot can change in such a relatively short span of time. So, we are presented with a curious blend of titles and how they do or do not relate to the tracks. In fact, looking at some of the titles it's a lot of sci-fi and a bit of wargaming in to play for the fun of it. And, I think essentially the album is only palatable if you don't take it seriously as a concept, just a collection of tracks. In other words, it lacks wholesomeness. It would have been interesting to see years of production, to help get a sense of direction, which I struggle to tune into. Personally, I don't fiddle with volume control, it's either there or it's not, that might be for a very good reason. It might be bad production, either way it's up to the artist to present themselves reasonably. If that is a mixed reaction, then there should be no surprises.
However, I don't want to sound negative, so what I will say is that listening through does at times present itself very well and I think a future album, created as an album could produce some stupendous results, depending which way perhaps the Industries decide to go, or remain a mixed bag. Storms of Saturn, was I think a challenging track to assimilate (but I liked it), and I suspect this was the spot (?) where we are suddenly beset by the bustle of Spaceport Tokyo. The problem, if there is one, and that could be that the contrast is not justified by being consistent. Like I said, if we had a sense of chronology it could be understood perhaps in a different light.
Going on and listening to Mecha-Chrome and the massive Nebula Drift convinces me that I prefer the electro/synth side to the rock fusion, or maybe I want to hear more of that, more assertiveness from the rock, I'm not sure. Such confusion!-) Nice tracks, look forward to hearing more (and knowing the dates of production!-). If I had to pick a favourite I would go with Storms of Saturn. There you go, neck right out...:-p
