After being really impressed with Paulo Pavan's first album, I was excited to discover that he was still active and making music. And it seems his craft and skills have only improved with time. While "Inside" was a great album, on of the best I'd found on Jamendo, it felt a little too reserved and at times predictable, not in a bad way, but it was lacking that spark that makes for really vibrant, exciting jazz.

It's superb then to hear this album, which finds Paulo experimenting, taking more risks, and playing with a real, tangible passion. The ensemble he plays with are all musician's with great skill and feel, and they all complement each other perfectly (keep an ear out for the drummer too!) All in all, an excellent collection of pieces, and an album that should be listened to by anyone in search of great, well crafted jazz.

Grazie Paolo,

Jazz is always good for everything:)
this albuim is pretty nice, easy listening.

'Looking For A Way Out', is an album of Pure Jazz. It is not a Jazz-Pop Crossover nor it is particularly "Light".

Jazz is one of the Styles of Music that is either loved or hated and this album will be favored most by Jazz Fans and Lovers of Music in General.

In my opinion, the reason for such emphatic like or dislike of Jazz is due to the sometimes, "Asymmetrical rhythm, Augmented or Sharp Chords structure and instrumentation(not everyone enjoys Muted Trumpet/Coronet or Saxophone) and the penchant for long piano solos incorporating aforementioned style characteristics which make it distinctly Jazz.

Instrumentally, Piano, String Bass, Drum Kit, Saxophone, Trumpet(muted) are featured in track after track of well performed Traditional Jazz(although track #2. 'Second' has a very Smooth Jazz influence).

This is an excellent album of Jazz so lovers of the genre should definitely audition the work.

I love this big kind of jazz . . .
lots of up tempo . . . happy . . . experimental . . . improvisational
sounding . . . with poetic, yet outspoken, vociferous instruments . ..
great sax, piano . . . brush drum, contra bass, everything works well together
like the well oiled meshing gears of a time piece. . . Enthralling!

Heartbreaking sax and wonderfully creative piano make this such a beautiful jazz set of the highest quality.Stupendous arrangements played with a relaxed passion, peaceful and melodic, while each note is full of imagery.A pure treat!!
