Quite an impressive Jamendo album. I downloaded it a while back and am still really enjoying it.
Pier To Pier is a fairly straight forward post-punk style opening single, but it's catchy and frantic enough to grab the listener's attention.
My favourite song on the album is Sorry Sarah. Once you get past the slightly over dramatic opening sequence, it's a fairly gripping track. Towards the end electric and acoustic guitars mix together with ethereal synth sounds which lends a really lush sound to a fairly strong crescendo. Great stuff.
The only song I dont enjoy on the album is Questions. In amongst the rest of the strong tracks on this album, this classic American rock styled song sounds like a filler. Or perhaps a second single made especially for commercial FM radio. The drama and emotion that the rest of the songs manage to build isnt present in this song and after listening to it a couple of times, I started to skip over it, as I found it was beginning to detract from the wonderful passion of the rest of the album.
Aside from that song, I cant complain about much more. The production values of this album, sadly arent as good as they could be, and that impacts on the clarity of some of the sound layers that the band create when they're at their best, but still, this is really a footnote, because even with the slightly murky production, this album still rocks hard!
