Nightmare being relevantly distorted in amongst the somnabulistic wanderings of the human subconscious. Esc would be a handy key to have available in some dreamstates. I quite liked that as an intro. Once the right key is pressed we may have The Pleasure of Awakening. That, if nightmares were apparent, would be a relief. Though we perhaps should not assume that even so, waking might not be the best option. However, all that aside, the track is pretty optimistic and bright. Endow Yourself, an interesting proposition. The idea I suspect would be easier than realising the reality of such gratuitousness. Again, the track has a positive air for the most part.
OCD sounds so familiar, something about the basic melody of it. In some ways the track may mimic the internal functioning (or malfunctioning) of the cerebral nerve net. Makes me think of Lady MacBeth! Classic case. Piano graces the ears, with the onset of Buddha Bar. Such serenity seems unlikely in any of the bars I have encountered, though it is a nice feeling all the same. I am more inclined to envisage a river-side inn, sat watching a sunset. Smkjpp Window Watcher has a lovely start, which settles into a fairly large, flowing expression in electronic form. Seems to be a well controlled emission of creative energy.
Pain, as a musical concept, almost seems out of place, as this has been so far, a mostly positive experience. However, a quick look at the tracklist proves that there is quite a lot of ideas covered, positive and potentially negative. Some sort of equilibrium? Pain is a big issue for many people and takes many guises. Here there is perhaps an infolding, searching for an inner sanctum, to ease the agony of conscious awareness. The body/mind continuum is quite good at that natural defence. This is followed by a very poignant track, entitled Hospital Memories. Almost sounds like the end already! Nicely done.
Under the Orange Lamppost, retains something of this gentle array of sounds, that is prominent herein. Again, there is more positive sounding electronic composition, and coupled with an expanse of an element readily associated with emotion, does appear to have some reasonable content to refer to. We Are Ocean, suggests a level of collectivity and even connectivity. It comes over as quite well-balanced. Silly Lover, is a fine little interlude. Somewhat like the reality. Then, onto Simple Living. Something quite difficult to attain in the business of modern (or postmodern) social existence. However, there is a place in mind perhaps, accessed with the help of nicely constructed, ambient electronica.
Roycelinni a nice, little positive diversion, on the way to view with your imaginative faculties, the following Indigo Skies. As beautiful as the idea seems, such a sight is more than likely the side-effect of environmental conditions. Either way, a well accomplished piece that has a very nice feel to it. A sunset in repose perhaps, natural phenomena with elegance. Liked the on vinyl background. More pleasing memories! Dear Families draws the listener back out of the predominant flowing of sounds, with a more clearly structured track. There is a return to the bright, optimism of earlier tracks, leaving aside the more fluid pieces.
So, overall and so far, this album has been streamlined with positivity, and as a result I hope that it will gain a good number of listeners and associated appreciation. Dry Pool Suicide poses a slight threat to that polarity, and is for me a unique conception to come up with. It is a thought-provoking track, not just for its title, but for its sound, and placing within this album. Having said that, it does not strike me as being negative as such. More an incorporation of the strangeness that people can represent maybe. Then, we end almost as we began. When is a dream not a dream? Are we assured of the difference, compared to reality? Such lucidity is quite a rare talent or characteristic to own. If so, cherish it. Otherwise, there is always the esc key!
