Hey Girl

I found this album to be a fun experience to listen to. I was quite amazed when I read later that such beautiful music came from someone as young and for a first try even more so.

I found it to be put together very well indeed. The melodies flow with ease. Aside from the popish Hey Girl, I found the remaining songs quite appealing. They are bit slower in tempo and add additional instruments. The piano takes shares the lead with the guitar and backed up by what I believe to be a xylophone and flute or piccolo in the background, that help give them additional depth and variety.

The vocals were done very well. Whereas the vocals in the english version of Hey Girl may not be Mélissa's forte they are done quite well none the less given they aren't her native tongue. In regard to some comments I have read about using english, I would say that the addition of english songs is welcome but certainly not required. I may not be able to understand the words, but I can appreciate thier intent in the musical sense (as a musical intrument)and if they come across better in an artists native tongue so be it, because it is what works.

As one of my first ventures into the world of CC music, this was an interesting find. My French is rather broken but her words are very clear, which makes it a lot easier to comprehend. It's a bit...pop-like for my liking, but she has a lovely singing voice and definitely has potential.

Français:
C'est le premier fois que je vois au monde de musique de Creative Commons et donc ceci était une découverte interessant. Comme vous pouvez voir, mon français est un peu mauvais mais elle chante trés clairement. Ses chansons sont un peu...comme pop musique pour moi, mais elle a une voix fantastique et elle vraiment a beaucoup de potentiel.

(J'espére que vous pouvez comprendre mon francais.)

This is really just a really good pop album. Unfortunatly, I fail to find what makes Mel's better than other pop performances.

I think I would have raised the score a point or two if the songs would be in english - somehow, pop songs really improve when you hear the lyrics (that's what I think after listening to Hey Girl in both french and english, anyway)

However, the english version of Hey Girl is a really, really good song!

I'm not saying this is bad in any way, Mel's just need a little bit more edge, and a few more english songs.

I've never listened to any French music before I found her, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I really like her music though, her voice is amazing, her songs are great and it sounds very professional.
