Blues For A Soldier

*

This is my second album recorded in 2007. The song "Trouble on Monday" is dedicated to my musician friend Thommie Johansson, who tragically died in 2004.

*

The song "Blues for a soldier" is dedicated to all the sodiers and civilians who fought in the Vietnam War. There is also a video of it on the site You Tube (search for Blues for a soldier).

I forgot how much I loved the Blues until I heard "Blues Walk" but then I live in a Jazzy/Blues city and take that genre for granted. Great guitar and drums. I couldn't help boppin'.
Oh man that's good! So good. The rest of the album, instruments, guitar, beat, perfect. I would love to see this live - the audience is always part of the pleasure in enjoying this style of music.
I liked the track "Can you drive me home" which had a marvelous beat and that up the scales and down - it reminds me of my hitch-hiking days in California (long ago). That hope rises when seeing those headlights coming down those long dark roads and then - only to be crushed.
"Don't close the door" is very bluesy and plaintive.
"Blues for a soldier" brought back memories and made me melancholic. Good Blues!
These tracks are mostly upbeat like "Neon Highway" with its speed and rock feel. Even the more traditional Blues tracks had an upbeat feel. Many of these compositions had a peculiar lilt to it that is endearing and catchy.
This is superior music and I discovered a secret stash of "Persson" albums which needed to be searched for as they are not on these particular pages. There are three other albums which seem to have their own pages. Well I'm off to check them out. Sorry for gushing :}
P.S. Check out that YouTube video: Persson Blues for a Soldier. It will break your heart.

I find all his music outstanding
since I create videos for Nam Veterans
who share their feelings about Vietnam then and now
I do plan on sharing his music and link back to
this album on my website and Our opendoorway military website where we have Soldiers of our Yesterdays and Today

This Album is very good in cheering one up. Good Blueyz =)(you have 6 marks for now)

I've listened to tons of musics and some tracks just give me the feeling of those songs I've heard before, songs I've heard when I was a little kid .Popular songs at that time...(nothing new.. minus 2 marks )

Well.... keep it up =)

If you are looking for an album of instrumental blues jams, this certainly fits the bill!

The subtle shifts in style means it works well as general back ground music... but if you fancy a more active listening experience, you may hear styles reminiscent of Clapton, Santana and Knopfler.

All in all, the guitar-work is techically very good, whilst retaining the emotion, and the songs themselves do allow you to lose yourself in the music.

YAHHHH!
Persson is another one I wish I could see live … …. We have a blues festival in the city in July . .. Maybe? ??

I always pull up one of his albums when I am in the mood to get moving, dance . .. be happy . . . YES especially that. .. being happy .. . right now I need to shake the cobwebs out of my head . . . and get moving . .. and that's what this music does for me . ……

Plus . . my heart just feels so happy when I listen . .. must be a happy heart that makes this music .. ..

edit: LOL happy blues .. . ?

The first two songs were totally groovy and enjoyable bluesrock jams. After that something starts bugging me.. especially the drums sound like something out of a cheap general midi -synth. Get rid of the drum machine, try a drummer instead! ;)

The compositions are pretty good and interesting, and guitar work is awesome! In fact, it's way too awesome for the average soundset in the background. Sorry to say, but there were times I thought I was listening to some supermarket/elevator CD.
