Sweet, acoustic, living sound, I could close my eyes and see this band - charming, stage lit, I could reach out and touch the musicians. They have captivating folk voices, great guitar, harmonica, drums and more. It would be fun to see them down at the corner Mickey Finn's Pub live. "Give it time..." was wonderful with its gentle male voices. "Baby Boy Killer" was such a sad tale,(and with the ambulance's harsh sounds and lullaby gentle tones in the background to give atmosphere) it brought the tears to my eyes. "Winter Blues" has an enchanting melody to capture the imagination. My favorite was "a long time for laughter." The voices were clear, the melody was uncluttered. Just a simple folk song very harmonious with a slow measured beat and an interesting tale to tell.
Pretty Little Empire is a pretty good band with a name that stands out a bit (its unusually cute for a band). Very comfortable to listen to their recordings.

A buddy of mine burned a copy of this album for me a month ago, and it's been the only thing I've been able to listen to since. Sounds like a more pop-oriented Sparklehorse; beautiful harmony vocals, crisp production, incredible lyrics & some crazy stylistic left turns. I have a long commute, and these have been some great drive-time tunes. Who are these guys? Is this their first album?

"Good Morning Early Riser" is my favorite song of 2009. Those trumpets, that melody, that rolling bass line---this is some real music here. I've loved music all my life and I gotta say that if these guys have day jobs, they should quit them. Come tour Memphis! We love our live music here.

This is one of Jamendo's top albums in my ears.

If you like independent music, calm music or alternative stuff just download and try it out! It is mostly very calm and sometimes awesome beautiful music.

In my view it is totally underrated by commercial music magazines so far.

Thanks for making your stuff available here on Jamendo!

We will have to catch up in Chicago or St. Louis!

Cheers,

One of the best folk/indie bands I've heard since coming across Band of Horses, but with more intelligible and relatable lyrics. Unique and melodic vocals. Great background instrumental details too. Wish they'd come to Chicago... I've been to a lot of shows and if the recording sounds this good the live show will be one to see.
