allthough not exactly what i listen to usually, i would like to comment on this, because in my opinion it is really an album that came out extremely well. Its use of electronica doesn't take any of that rock'n'roll atmosphere away, i can hear early Cure, Depeche Mode at times, and quite a lot of sounds i felt at home with in the eighties. But i also hear a modern sounds also resembled, and i like this album a lot more than quite a lot of the tunes i hear on current radio stations over here in Switzerland.
Rock solid grooves, good hooks, strong choruses, vocals that absolutely convince, and good songs.
What more can one ask for?
Well done and thanks for sharing.
Great upbeat, energising, euphoric, indie tracks, with exceptionally good vocals and nice catchy lyrics to match. And perfect music that is comforting, enjoyable to my ears and the time of album and music you would never get bored with and you will always be coming back to over and over again to play constantly..
Great vocals - good sing-a-long lyrics. Enjoyable listening - reminded me of post punk electronic English band sound.
This album is loaded with potential. The vocals are the weakest part due to a lack of placement in the audio field and perhaps needing some compression also. it sounds like the mike is muffled so maybe a better microphone or mic placement.
The song writing is really well done, the vocal phrasing is retro (I love retro!!) and the over all effect is pleasant. I like the vocals just wish they were more 'up front.' If I were the producer of this album I would go quickly to a pro studio and get a weeks block of time booked with an expert engineer.
I love the Fixx who's sound this album manages to grab very legitimately. I would say that On returning is an instant favorite to me. The lack of processing on guitar and keys is also an issue to me but that's a matter of taste. There is nothing that makes me want to shut off the song, I just feel the best of On Returning is yet to come. This is a major album but not quite ready for the Big Time but that's just a matter of time.
The guitar work is well done and the drums manage to do the job with out over throwing the keys. The way the songs progress is amazing.
The lower production quality does have an edgy new wave meets rock feel but the similarity in the tracks creates little contrast in songs that are actually quite different. I wish I were in a band this good.
In concert I bet this would be fantastic. By the 4th song i wanted to buy a CD and that's just rare for me unless the band has something to say and these guys do. Maybe the encoding is robbing the tracks of the vitality this band seems to possess. It appears one person is doing all of this and that takes MAJOR ability and talent.
Keep it up! Send me a CD? = ) I will send one back.
As the album progresses it is obvious that Tranås has a definite future in music.
The synth mix is very, very well done and the guitar playing smooth as silk with frequent stabs into the soundfield on some songs that I find pleasing. I just keep wishing I was a producer for this band, I can feel the sliders in my hand as I bring the mix into focus....ahhh.
Even though I'm not a fan of electronic music, I found this album pretty interesting. With quite a difference in styles from one song to the other.
I liked "Paris" a lot, while I could barely stand "These dreams are endless".
The first track, Paris (Energy of Life), it is energy for the day. Athletes take pills and vitamins before going to practise or competation, but I listen to excellent music while driving to schoo, and my students notice when I listen to good music or bad music before getting to school.
On Returning are great. This album is great. Indie pop rock fans can't miss it.
Ten thumbs up for Sweden pop music.
Grate music, well done, vocal little reminds me on sonic youth but I love sonic youth so that is good.
keep on good work
Well done gentlemen! Normally pop is not what I listen to, but I made an exception. How glad I am for doing so! The tunes were pleasant enough, yet I only have one complaint. The first 8 songs seemed as if the vocals were being hidden, yet the last track they came forth. Minor gripe as I am unfamiliar with the group.
I'd really like to hear more if there are any hidden gems not released yet to do a comparison of them. Keep `em coming guys!!!
