Why must you make such excellent music, and not tour where I live?
Why must you release it all for free so I have no excuse to not listen?
Why must your songwriting be so damn good I can't turn this album off (don't ask how many times I've had this album on repeat)?
Why must your singing match the music so perfectly that I find it hard not to sing along at work?
Why must you make the track "BorderBlaster" so achingly sad and beautiful that I have trouble listening to other music now?
Why must you play the banjo so well that I find myself driven to spend time away from family and friends practicing my 5 string?

Why Josh? WHY?!?!!

You're an evil man. Please keep it up. :)

(...and hurry up and tour Toronto. Gah! How selfish to keep yourself elsewhere! I'd recommend the Hillside music festival *hint* ;) )

Josh, an exceptional album and a great follow up to your others, loved every minute of this fun, energetic, sad, hurt, compassionate, sorrowful, easy to listen to, feel good, heartfelt, relaxed, good, grace album. That was light on my ears and good on my heart and soul. To check out and truly saviour and enjoy. Fantastic, charismatic, real live emotions felt and saw, let alone heard, awesome compelling, inspirational, strong vocals with good lyrics, interesting, heartfelt, wholesome, and passionate and sometimes jolly and catchy as well on top. Never a dull moment had listening to your album. I loved the way you could change the tone and feelings of each track, from happy to sad, to melancholy to hard and dramatic, to heart rendering.

Best artist on jamendo.com! Wonderful album. Best Song = Under the Stairs.

Very good albums!!!

I am no fan of 5-stringed instruments (well, with the exception of those that have five really thick strings and that stomach-bumping sound...you know!). So some of the tracks really were not my favourites.
Still I must admit that this album is very well done, from harmony, to melody, to overall sound. And the lyrics, of course.
There is something in these pieces that appears to be heard before, somewhere, somehow. Definitely the best of it. But... nothing in particular can be mentioned. Something from "Del Amitri"? "Eagles"? "Pink Floyd"? There is just that limited number of notes and chords. And with so many people having made music in the history of humanity it is hardly possible to come up with something that has never been done before...
Which are my favourites, then? Sure. "Private Hurricane" and "I am not Dreaming". The first for the unexpected guitar riffs. The second... Ah, the second! All of it. Sorry, it seems I am with the dark (not the stoopid). And so is that song.
Josh, come to Latvia. Let's make a jam session together!

What a wonderful voice, outstandingly played guitar and powerful messages in this excellent album.
I really enjoyed "Private Hurriane" for its melody and its message in the lyrics of someone sinking into a mental illness and unwilling to save themselves - "...if you're gonna let yourself fall down you'll be going to the bottom alone." How truthful. I loved the lyrics to "Stars Collide" with its chorus "Everybody feels alone/Everybody's on their own/I wanna see the stars collide/I wanna see the burning sky inside you." Such a powerful message about our human condition. Music is one unmeasurable way to get beyond that "shallow skin" that never lets you in. The song "Overthrown"'s lyrics were so moving to me - perhaps because they reminded me so much of life itself and how it can pass you by and leave you in the dust especially if you let the "heavy load"s and the "weight below" break you and keep you from creating a new kingdom and leaving that past one behind. Great poem!
My favorite song was "I'm not Dreaming" which had an outstanding melody and lyrics stating the case of the trauma of a soldier and the inability to completely leave the horrors behind.
Perhaps the message of this album is how alone we are and how we have to be our own best friend and learn how to reach out to others and share our hearts without fear of being trampled because we have the strength within ourselves not to lay in the dust forever.
