Thank you for this work. One of the tracks was very suitable as a backing for a timelapse I did of our recent bushwalk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L06gKY_IC04
I was commissioned, by a friend, to find an older album that I liked and I picked this one as one of my favorites for walking. . .
I do a lot of walking and it helps to have a sprightly, non-complicated music to set the pace and encourage me with a sparkling nature. This is one that I can count on as it has a nice beat and some vague flavors of places around the world. I hear the Middle East in "Walking 5" and the Far East in "Walking 4." But, that may be in my imagination . . . and here again I wish to point out that music is alway my best hope in staying connected to the imaginative side of me . . .
All the music, together on this album, work well to maintain a flow for my walk. I have always wished it were a tiny bit longer, but that is only a minor complaint.
My apologies for not going with the flow on this set; it's been here for a year and only 876 listens. Why? Is it not worthy? Were there hiccups during the playing? 36 Downloads?
This is purely MY opinion, that some of this music is well worn and tried and trued. The playing is great, but so what? It has been heard time and time again, and by a variety of artists.
Do not mistake me saying that these tunes have been done by others, just that the sound has.
It's amazing what you find when you accept a friendship request on Jamendo. This is really great music. merci
Where do you find the creation of music like that? In your heart? . . . Your head? . . . your soul? Its so good?!?
walking 1 - had such a marvelous way of building up on the melody with the various instruments . . . it was such a happy music! The piano was outstanding throughout that one and with the echo of the drums - I just loved it! But, shh . . . I just want to listen now to the rest . . .
Twenty some minutes later . . . Well, after listening to all the walking songs - I can't decide which one I like best. They were all strong - with a powerful beat, a powerful message, and powering on down the pathway, whether with a destination in mind or just to meander along enjoying nature; this is some really good music. It carries you along with its strength and beauty . . . it is bright, happy, trippy . . . how could you not help but love all these golden songs. Very creative, enjoyable, even relaxing if you want to use it thusly - but it is outstanding walking music, and I sure love to walk.
Piano composed and played with delicacy and sensitivity... I love the sunlight falling on deep glossed wood feel that reminds me of a Windham Hill style (back in the day, before Sony took the label over). I could hear Keith Jarrett, surely, if distantly, at times too. Beautiful echos of modern classical jazz, that style. Yet easy, flowing. Walking is the most profound meditation of all. Simple, what we do ever day, God willing. The chords were played in interesting and unique ways, and built on each other giving a meditative soundscape to which we could move our bodies along streets and through parks to the river or lake or ocean while we opened ourselves to the joy of living in the open air. Tetra's (Van Syla admin) subtle, delightful music refreshes what is weary and inspires joy and a revival of innocence.
