Album description

A second collection of tunes mainly arrived at between April 2008 and September 2009.Once again the recording quality quality is variable; once again all have origins and a tale to tell; some are personal and others are musical interpretations of my wandering thoughts... All are recorded on an 8 track in me spare time. If you like what you hear, then help yourself. Thanks for dropping by...

Sailors for a day...

Deaming of escaping responsibility and obligation - going where you want, when you want and letting it just happen....

Beluga

This refers to the nickname given to the plane that carries the wings for the new airbus. It has a top-heavy appearance not unlike the Beluga Whale, and seems to hang in mid-air. How it remains airborne is surely beyond science and nudging into sci-fi... It has become quite a regular sight in the area around Hawarden and is strangely impressive...

The sun is singing...

I recall being still half trousered after a night out and was slumped before the telly. Someone was rattling out hard, cold fact after hard' cold fact about the sun on one of the science channels and it was just about sinking in, albeit subconciously. Then he suddenly said "... and how do we know this? Because the sun is singing...". Those words lit a fuse somewhere in me because I suddenly found myself in my little music room, Breedlove in hand, with a lovely little mental picture floating about..

Adrift/Abandoned

The dusty interior of a disused warehouse...
The mine that no longer echoes with the noises of hard graft...
The creaking galleon, not a soul stirring yet everything in place but the crew...
Places that should bustle but are devoid of human presence take on a life of their own.
Played on guitar and toy musical instruments and garnished with a dash of reverb..

Woodsmoke

On a day out in Llangollen, N. Wales. It was late October 2008 and we had the first October snowfall for over 70 years. I walked the boys down the canal and the unusual combination of Autumn leaves with snow, and the smell of woodsmoke was bewitching. I have the day firmly stamped in my memory as one of my best...
this sprawling noodle of a tune was cobbled together as soon as I got home in my heady state...
