FUCK THE WAR!!!

Sono rimasto a bocca aperta ascoltando il primo pezzo di questo album su Jamendo.

Sono stato incuriosito dal titolo, ma ammetto che ero scettico.. mi aspettavo un album punk che non mi avrebbe dato quasi niente. Ed invece, dopo 10 secondi di streaming dal sito ho fermato tutto e messo l'album in download.
E mai scelta fu più felice.
Questo album, una collezione di pezzi registrati durante i 6 anni di guerra in Iraq, è il chiaro esempio che il Rock e l'impegno politico e civile si sposano alla perfezione. E Ralph Buckley ha scelto la strada che io preferisco, quella di un rock intimo, quasi melodico musicalmente, ma con testi e voce che pesano come un mattone.
La produzione è ottima, ma alla fine questo importa relativamente poco: l'importante è ascoltare al giorno d'oggi un concept album (anche se non nato cosi nella mente dell'autore) di 6 pezzi che tracciano un percorso netto, preciso, chiaro e incredibilmente coerente, sia nei messaggi che nella musica che li accompagna.
L'inizio, con Fuck the war è intensissimo, si capisce subito che non è un lavoro come altri, un ritmo delicatamente forsennato accompagna una la voce profonda (con qualche sfumatura blues) che enuncia il manifesto dell'album.
Alla fine del pezzo si rimane quasi senza fiato.. e l'unica domanda che a me è venuta in mente è stata.. e adesso?
Semplice, adesso si inizia il viaggio, tra chitarre elettriche mai invasive, ritmi potenti ma mai devastanti. Fino ad arrivare a "Butterfly's" probabilmente il pezzo più bello dell'album.
I testi sono un misto di accuse e ironia, come la ripresa di "Happy Birthday Mr. President" nel pezzo Mr. Bush.
Un album intenso, per gli amanti del rock (ma non solo), da ascoltare attentamente.
Gran bel lavoro.

I'm not going to translate everything I wrote in Italian. It probably wouldn't make much sense for the artist.
But I want to give you the general idea anyway. I think this collection made up a perfect concept album. And the path you built putting the songs together is just sublime.
I was attracted by the CD cover, but somehow I was expecting a punk album. Listening in streaming (thanks God Jamendo exists) to "Fuck the war" made me immediately stop and download the whole album.
God, that was a great decision! It is solid political rock. I loved everything about it, your voice, the lyrics, the music (great choice not to push on power but on feelings) and as I already said.. the path these songs all together build.
Together with all that, I really liked the irony on Mr. Bush with the reprise of Happy Birthday Mr. President.
So definitely a very good album, I am greedy to listen more from you!

Yes, "FUCK THE WAR", also "FUCK" all lobby groups, all the morally corrupt people, all blind believers, all cocksuckers who push the idea that ideas can become someone's propriety and use that for monopoly purposes, "FUCK" em all...

I really like the song FTW. You have a really unique sound. I was taken by surprise the first time I listened. I hope to hear more.
