Album description

LiberaMusica LibereIdee (FreeMusic FreeIdeas) it's the first real album by Harem. Our songs, our sounds, our passions! Lyrics are intended to the human people, in order to the exhort them to reach their "ego" and explode their energy all around... just like a rebel! There's also a little kind of loneliness... dark moments in a sunshine summer, when strange melodies walks side by side with "painted" words...

I don't know much about Italian (?) culture except that it has produced fantastic cars, different art forms, and it has a well-documented history. Now I feel good about adding something else to what I think I know: this band gave me some solid, soulful rock music to listen to the first night I checked out Jamendo. What this did for me was to recognize the importance of the website as well as to realize the favorable contributions of musicians trans-globally. Gotta love the Internet - now to depose the RIAA...LOL ^_^ I know I don't actually know what the vocalist is singing, but the tunes are fab and they leave me with positive feelings. Can't be all bad. Now I think to myself, "Can the depth and range of the Internet & WWW ever be fully realized?" Rhetoric yes, but I think it is clear that this "information vehicle" is antithetical to the 'Tower of Babel' story. But I digress, the main point is that this band and this album are indeed enjoyable and I absolutely recommend them both, IMHO.

To be honest, I only downloaded this album in the first place because I liked the band's name. I had been looking for some new music for my iTunes playlist, because I'm a writer and I let the music I listen to suggest the flow of my writing. I gave this a play, and I have to admit, it was unlike almost anything I have heard before or since.

The first thing I thought (and my boyfriend also commented on it) was how much the general feel of the album is much like Marillion, and although I couldn't understand the lyrics, I found myself listening to it over and over again.

Notable tracks to my mind are Canzone, Pelle Viva, and Aria. There is absolutely no reason why I would recommend those songs, they're just the ones that tend to stand out when I'm listening to the album, although that may be due to iTunes playing them more often. My absolute favourite track though, has to be Cuore e Ragione. I could listen to that one all day. I just wish I knew what it was about!

I would have rated the album 10, but it is too much like Marillion for it to be completely unique (but that's a good thing, because I like Marillion).

I look forward to hearing more in the future, and great work on this album.

This is some really great Italian pop rock. For those who can’t speak Italian (myself included), I believe the album title can be translated as “FreeMusic FreeIdeas”.

All the tracks are very well composed, and the recording quality is very crisp. The lead singer has a strong voice and I enjoyed the electric guitar solos (which are not in short supply). All of the tracks are drenched with guitar, so instrumentally there is little variety, but Harem makes up for this with varying rhythms and beats.

I wish more of the tracks were faster and more upbeat, although I did really like how the last track, “Aria”, gave a nice smooth ending to the album. My favorite tracks were “Eva”, “1000 Watt” (these two were also the fastest tracks), and “Aria”. I think that further albums from Harem would benefit greatly if more of the tracks were upbeat. The band seems to have a real talent with upbeat music, so it is a shame that so little of it is.

It’s also worth noting that the album art is quite nice, and they also posted their lyrics on Jamendo. I really appreciate when an artist does that. Even if I can’t read Italian, I like to pretend that I can to impress my friends.
