Trance Imagination

Atomic Cat, is one of the most prolific artists on Jamendo. You will not find a shortage of albums or reviews but that does not negate the need for another perspective.

Trance Imagination continues AC's tradition of pulsing, upbeat Techno-Trance-Dance albums featuring an eclectic combination of sounds(see below) often sampled into Atomic Cat's music

Track #8, Transgenique is a prime example of Atomic Cat's signature Sound(once you hear it-you'll instantly recognize it), the howling of wolves mingled with sirens and a woman's ethereal moaning, blend into a mostly instrumental dance song that literally shakes the foundation.

Track #9, Talking to the Moon, brings to mind the vocals of Safire(Let Me Be the One) and Alisha(Too Turned On); "Metropolitan Free Style/Dance artists-1990s who had very distinctive voices. The female vocal in this track more than equals the aforementioned artists and is instantly identifiable as part of Atomic Cat's unique sound.

Trance Imagination will make a fine addition to any music library.

I like it it certainly let someone's imagination to travel wherever one's wants to and it also has this little yearning behind that give a wonderful melodic composition.

I really like your fast, happy and energetic music style. I love to listen to this Album and all of your albums while playing fast computer games :-)

I've never been a fan of the dance/club/trance genre, but I have to admit that Atomic Cat continues to pour so much creativity and style into their work that it transcends the genre and is just plain good listening.

If, like me, you tend not to "get" this genre, then I recommend listening to this album in reverse. The first third of Vagabondage Emotionnel is a subtle and pleasant ambient piece that reminds me of some other artists on Jamendo such as Project Divinity and Celestial Aeon Project. The second third is a tad more dancy, but is still quite mellow. The final third is practically a new song, and the only negative comment I have about the whole work is that it really does feel like it should have been two songs.

Talking to the Moon is a simple love song, but the complex interplay of beat and instrumentation ties the lyrics down and gives them an abstract quality that I appreciate.

Transgenique is a bit '80s... it could easily be a sequel to the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack, which probably wasn't the intent, here. Still, it's full of the kind of complexity that makes 'Cat so enjoyable.

Strange subway station (caps theirs) has the feel of a theme park ride. In fact, I think if the Six Flags: New England Superman roller coaster had this music playing throughout, it would be substantially scarier than listening to clips from the Superman movie. The beat that kicks in around 2:00 is a bit too harsh for my tastes.
