This album has more use of modern rhythm sounds and techniques and more diversity than some of the earlier albums.
The album leans a bit more towards the sound of early Depeche Mode in the 'darker' tracks, with the usual blend of analog sounds, but more evident are orchestral and voice tones to blend it in. I still feel that the 'darker' songs could have been a bit 'darker'.
There is still a tendency for these to sound optimistic and joyous in places, I was hoping one or two of the darker tracks would really creep me out and depress all hell out of me, but that didn't happen ! The titles were very dark though !!
Still, I like the progression, the production as always is great, amazing mix quality, etc. And the sounds are great but next time a little extra edge on the 'darkness' would be something I'd really love to hear from you. You have definately got the light side of things nailed, I can imagine clapping along to the strong beats and melodies like it was JMJ in concert playing Magnetic Fields or something with a laser show, so kudos to you for that !!
