Album description
Recorded in 2004, Illusion of Art's debut record Phylum comes off roughly. Phylum was recorded onto an outdated PC with freeware and live instruments. The tracker used to create the synth tracks would crash after every three notes making the process take three months. For the live instruments, a four-track was plugged into the soundcard as a mixer. The vocals are sung in an asthmatic whine over distorted guitars and virtual representations of harpsichords, kotos, home organ percussion, Nintendos, hip-hop beats, and Mellotrons among others.
