Album description

"L'Ultima Ora" ... la Dernière Heure du jour...
quand la nuit a implacablement absorbé les lueurs du crépuscule,
révélant à chacun ses propres ombres, ses faiblesses, ses fautes,
ses remords, ses regrets...

L'Ultima Ora est le dernier album en date de Aching Beauty, sorti en novembre 2004 sur le label Brennus Music. Un savant mélange de Rock, de Métal et de Progressif, aujourd'hui distribué librement.

Progressive metal in the tradition of groups like Dream Theater and Symphony X, but with their own unique touch. Beautiful compositions, a good "album concept" (meaning it's more than a collection of songs) and skillful playing complete this outstanding work.

I'm waiting for the next album!

stunning!

I love playing guitar. I'm not very good at it yet, so I do drumnbass music and stuff like that, but I love rock and metal more. The Dreamer's Paradox from JT Bruce was one of the best metal albums I've ever heard on Jamendo, but the sound was way too light (in a way) but it doesn't exactly need to be deathmetal. That brings me to this album. L'Ultima Ora from Aching Beauty has what I wanted from JT Bruce after I heard The Dreamers Paradox. It's heaver, without being exactly dark. It also powerful with its lyrics. If you listen to any song though off of this album make it Pairsonality. The song reminds me of something from Tool smashed with JT Bruce with a little bit of Pax Cecilia added. The only letdown I have is the singing. It's not really bad, it just needs a little bit of tuning. All and All, this album should not be missed. I look forward to seeing these guys in the future.

Comparisons to Dream Theater certainly justified, this is one epic beast of an album that really has to be heard as an album as a whole. Well written, well performed, well executed, really draws you in and takes you on a ride, so many different facets to this album, so much to offer that gradually reveals itself as the album unfolds. Like I said, play the whole thing from start to finish, a single track or two simply won't do it justice. Excellent stuff, shame we won't hear any more from this band but an excellent lasting epitaph I'm sure.

First of all - a fantastic advert for Jamendo! What other treasures are lurking in there?

This is a prog-metal album in the broad style of Dream Theater, but by no means following the formula slavishly; from time-to-time I picked up subtle hints of Marillion, Genesis and (dare I say it) Rush. Very good song composition and musicianship overall - the final four 'epic' tracks simply blew me away (seriously)!

I'm gutted to see that Aching Beauty are no longer a unit...

Even though the first couple of songs do not sell the album well (in the fashion that I find them a little bit repetitive and not all original), the final four tracks, which together form L'ultima Ora, are simply outstanding.

They are very well written and orchestrated perfectly, and just those four songs would be sufficient for me to buy the whole album.

Keep up the good work, I would like to hear more from you.
