Gangrel came up as an idea, of making a Horror Thrash Metal band in Diego’s mind in 2006, but the first line up didn't came up until April or May 2007. The line up was: Diego on bass guitar, Brayan and Viktor on lead guitars, Fernando on vocals and Luis on drums. Fernando use to sing in a band where Diego played the bass, so Diego called him to join this new project. Luis was also the ex drummer of that band, and after trying to play with different drummers, Diego and Fernando thought he may be the right person. This line up recorded one song called ''Ghost Train'', a heavy bluesy tune that Diego and Viktor wrote, but soon the band would suffered it’s first break. On July 2007, Brayan left in order to study music in Spain and after two more rehearsals, Diego and Fernando though they needed another drummer, like in the past band, Luis kept on skipping rehearsals, or showing without any money to pay for them, so Diego told him that he was out of the band. After this, Diego called O'corvo, a drummer who was just looking for a Thrash Metal band to play in after quitting his last band. The days passed and it was obvious that Viktor was going in a different direction and, in order to continue making Gangrel the band that it had to be, Diego let Viktor go. After this, the band suffered a crisis for months, no guitar players were at sight and Fernando was having some differences within the band. A new hiatus happened, when Fernando was replaced by Jazziel. With this line up of three, Diego kept on composing the songs, and in November 2007 Gangrel hit a recording studio, the guitars of this recording were played by different people (one of them was Gangrel ex-guitarist Viktor) but again, this recording didn't see the light, and so the time passed and in December 14th the band gave themselves a rest. On April 2008, things were getting worse, Diego came back from USA were he spent the last four months working. Problems with Jazziel were just obvious, so Diego fired him. Diego then called Fernando asking if he wanted to rejoin the band, and so he did. At this time many guitar players auditioned for the band, but none gave the strength Gangrel needed; it seems the band was going for a break up before they even release an EP. Many days after that, Diego talked to a friend and he told him about one guy who used to play thrash metal with him, Diego called him. The guitar player was called Carlo; a Testament fan who was at the time polishing his style by practicing neo-classical music. Gangrel founded a guitar player. One month later, Diego went to Viktor’s house to have some beers, and Viktor told him about one guy at his College that ‘looked as a metal head’. Diego contacted him, once again with nothing to loose. The guy was called Sergio; soon he would be playing in a rehearsal studio with the guys and becoming a member of the band. Without loosing any time, Gangrel hit Nativo Records studio in November 2008, where they recorded in three days their first EP called “Metal Hunters”. The EP consist on five songs: “Front Page Killer”, “The Screamer”, “Metal Hunters”, “Carnage” and “Gangrel”, and was mixed in three weeks. Diego on bass, Fernando on vocals, Sergio and Carlo on lead guitars and O’corvo on drums, The monster is finally complete and ready to terrorize with each and every second of the songs they play. Long live Horror Thrash Metal!!
