Iras (born a summer evening of June 25th 1986) is an African rap artist who developed the art of composing, writing & storytelling ever since he created his persona in July 1998.

He believes in the sharing of one’s gift for free since he’s part of a generation that thinks certain kind of entertainment should be available to the mass for free which made him consequently relinquish his entire discography on different platforms (iTunes, Iras World, Jamendo, etc).

His vision of the hip-hop world is the reason why he (unlike most rappers) doesn’t talk about the typical topics which made this universe so renowned : the street, the project, girls, having or making money, smoking weed, cars, clubs, partying, pimpin’, hustling, ego trips, etc. 
Therefore he creates characters, their psyches and thence put them in motion through stories.

His true zeal for art arose at an early age and helped him shape his vision as a rap artist and ironically (for a musician) he prefers to stay in the shadow hence away from the spotlights which is embodied in his statement :

”I, as an individual, do not matter only my art does”.

The latter is also represented by the mask he wears every time he’s “Iras” because he wants people to focus on the art side of his cosmos and not on who he is as an individual. Therefore the art will have the limelights while the man behind the mask will remain in the penumbra so as to give his craft’s sprouts enough room to grow into gorgeous arty flowers.

Even though many dubbed his universe as gloom and a bit sad which happens to be the case, his atypical universe will give you a good outlook of the newest generation of African rap artists.
