Korean Factor formed in November, 2005. It is an “one-man” project, and this man is Yannis “Vril” Kamarinos. Neither he is Korean, nor he lives in Korea. But he is strongly influenced by the famous Asian nation. When he visited for the very first time Korea (Seoul and Busan, 2003) he came in (a little) touch with the underground scene. But the sound in bigger and smaller clubs of Seoul was not enough. The industrial culture of the Korean nation and the ancient history (including Buddhism) create a combination unique of its kind!
Anyway, Vril decided to form “Korean Factor”, as a side project of his main band “Forkys”. Using harder beats, techno and industrial sounds, more minimalist musical phrases and just a few samples mainly in Korean (and some in English) language, Korean Factor offers a rather “exotic” industrial sound for the European audience and a quite different approach of electronic music for the Asian audience. In January, 2006 the first promo cd-r has been released, including two tracks. In January 2008, "CHE-IL GWA" was ready in mp3 format and 200 limited copies of CD-R audiophile version, both released by Super8 Productions
Live shows have already take place in Athens (Greece). During the shows, pictures and videos from Korea are projected, an action already positively mentioned by the local funs. There is no an official web site, for the time being But, you can also visit www.forkys-music.com/koreanfactor, www.myspace.com/koreanfactor and www.sounclick.com/koreanfactor, where you can listen to more songs and learn more about Korean Factor.
