Magellan's Folly is a band, this is true. But it's a band that strives to be so much more.
With the stated goal of waking people up and opening people's eyes, Magellan's Folly incorporates original music and art, self released under Creative Commons licenses, in order to send a message of both hope and action, of both challenge and resolution. Rejecting the ingrained notion of the archaic left/right political spectrum, this band represents a new methodology, using reason and logic as opposed to political dogma, and affecting change through music as well as action.
In addition to presenting a social message, Magellan's Folly also strives to entertain listeners with detailed and interesting music. Rejecting the notion of genres, Magellan's Folly is constantly creating new and exciting music. Ranging from acoustic folk-like songs to gigantic epic works to catchy poppy numbers, this band is seriously focused on entertaining, as well as challenging you. And with influences ranging from Pete Seeger to Queen, from Nine Inch Nails to Bob Dylan, and from Leon Russell to Grandmaster Flash, this band has the capability to create more diverse music than most.
All of the art and music created by this group will be released under a Creative Commons license, allowing listeners free downloads. This is because the message is far more important than the money, especially in this day and age.
