Athens, Greece
I was born in Athens, Greece in 1967. I still remember playing with an old tape deck and a record player in my early childhood years listening to classical music. That Mozart’s “Voi che sapete”, which at that time I didn’t understand what it was or who had written it, seemed to have played its trick deep inside me, for when I first actively listened to “Le nozze di Figaro”, Cherubino’s voice reached the depths of my soul awakening memories and emotions.
I took my first piano lessons when I was 12 but I finally had to give up my musical studies to focus on getting ready for higher education. I kept on studying music on my own going through harmony, counterpoint and fugue theory. I also kept composing bits and pieces of music trying to imagine what they would sound like.
When personal computers became all the rage, I was on cloud nine. Finally, I had a chance to listen to my own music with instruments that had an acceptable timbre. I started developing an interest in Greek traditional music too and was wondering how it could be combined with classical techniques.
Now that the internet era is in full swing, I decided to share some of my music with the rest of the world. I’ve always believed that any form of artistic expression should be there to satisfy the soul first and be shared with other people.
