Carmina, c’est d’abord un projet qui réunit des amis ayant tous joué dans des groupes issus de la scène HC francilienne des années 90 comme Thrill of Confusion, Undone, L’Invention de Morel et bien sûr Ananda.

Leur point commun, quelques albums de death metal suédois et floridiens qui polluent agréablement leur collec’ de disques de punks trentenaires...

On est en 2000 lorsque que Stu et Michaël officient respectivement à la guitare et au chant dans Ananda. Leur goût pour le métal de la mort qui tue les conduit à jouer ensemble : ils créent alors Carmina. Stu est à la guitare et Michaël à la batterie. Pendant un peu plus d’un an, ils répètent tous les deux puis cherchent un deuxième guitariste, ami avant tout. C’est ainsi qu’Alexis rejoint le combo. Même chose pour un bassiste et c’est le jeune Damien qui prend naturellement cette place. Le chant est réparti entre Stu, Damien et Alexis.

Après avoir acheté un peu de matos home studio, ils s’enferment au Boodoo Studio et enregistrent 6 titres en 2004. Il en sortira six morceaux répartis en une démo 4 titres et un split 7’’ avec Morgue.

Début 2007, Damien décide de quitter le groupe. Par chance Bif, guitariste-chanteur de Disaster, intègre rapidement Carmina. Ça colle tout de suite avec lui, l’aventure continue. Ils descendent de nouveau à la cave Boodoo pour enregistrer sept nouveaux morceaux qui sortent en CD sur Rewolucja Records.

First of all, Carmina is a band uniting friends who all played in various bands from the french 90’s HC scene like Thrill of Confusion, Undone, L’Invention de Morel and of course Ananda.

Their common point ? A few swedish and floridian death metal albums pleasantly polluting their record collection of punks going in their thirties...

In 2000, Stu and Michaël are playing in Ananda, Stu being on guitar and Michael on vocals. Their taste for the metal of death finally pushes them to create Carmina as a side project. Stu is on guitar again and Michael goes on drums. For a year or so, they practice as a two-piece before looking for a second guitarist : soon after their friend Alexis joins the duo. Same thing with a bass player and Damien takes the spot. At that time vocals are split between Stu, Damien et Alexis.

They buy a bit of home studio equipment and go in the Boodoo Studio where they record 6 tracks in 2004. 4 of them will go as their demo and 2 will be released as a split 7’’ with Morgue.

Early 2007, Damien quits. Luckily, Bif, Disaster’s guitar player/singer joins Carmina soon after. It all goes easy with him and Carmina keeps going. Carmina goes in the studio again to record 7 songs released as a CD on Rewolucja Records in november 2008.
