Since 2003, the unique musical style of Convey has been grabbing the attention of worldwide fans of progressive and alternative rock while maintaining a following of casual listeners who simply love beautiful and accessible music. Building riffs and melodies from raw ideas, improvisation and collaborative jams, Convey has crafted songs that surprise the listener with their unpredictable melodic turns and rhythms, their captivating lyrics. Whether the inspiration comes from light and color, from social concerns, from cathartic moments, or simply from any one of the bands’ diverse musical influences, Convey uses music to reach its audience at a level both personal and deep. Convey’s music is a dynamic, jarring, chaotic, controlled, melodic and meaningful glimpse into the band's personal and collaborative sensitivities.
Convey has gone through significant evolution since its inception in 2003, with progressive refining of its sound and focus. Through the inclusion of new musicians and the contribution of their gifts and passion ( 3 members are currently attending Berklee College of Music), the band has managed to grow while remaining consistent with its original identity and the unique colors of its personal sound. Lead vocalist and keyboardist Ben Cohen’s powerful lyrics and hook-ridden melodies burst into life through a charismatic stage presence that mesmerizes audiences large and small. Innovative guitarist Jahan Rajabi layers moody textures with melodic details that startle, surprise and seduce. Laying down the powerful but accessible low end on bass is Adam Merki, whose impressive skill in a range of musical genres has broadened the band’s musical palette. Drummer Cory Jurkiewicz joined the band in the summer of 2009 and quickly became in indispensable asset, managing to move quickly and seamlessly into band membership, bringing an impressive virtuosic skill and musicality. Together, the members of Convey have created a sound that is uniquely theirs yet ever evolving. All look forward to the production of their first full-length CD, due out by Fall, 2009.
