"Mr haze dub project" is a collective reggae dub project initiate by Mr Haze the sound ingeneer of "Roots Vibes" studio and for the Roots Vibes label. This collective is made up of the Roots & Culture dub band and several singers: N'Dondoman ragga/boggle Prince Mamba deejay/dubpoetry Azkane afro/reggae/dubpoetry Live High "rockers" stylee and others They try to recreate the mystic mood of roots jamaïcan reggae dub with influence from lee perry,king tubby,scientist... MR HAZE :BIOGRAPHY Mr Haze takes up M.A.O. in 2001, and starts coining his style, multiplying the collaborations with different artists on an electro-reggae dub basis(percussionists,singers(men and women), « solo » musicians and composers).Then follows a series of live concerts in 2002-2003 in cafés in Rheims where he adopts the pseudo « Mr Haze » for good. In 2002, when Mr Haze meets the toaster N’Dondoman, the « Mr HAZE » project takes a new direction :exit electro…and…back to the Roots. -One acknowledgement is imperative : facing the multiplication of musical projects bearing the « Dub » label without making any reference neither to its roots,nor to its methods,the two partners decide, through a group of artists (MR HAZE), to evoke the origins of this musical genre and to offer their own vision of today’s Dub. -They will try to recreate in live concerts the experimental and revolutionary mood which appeared in the beginning of the 70’s in the jamaÏcan studios ;and which has given birth to the remix,and through it, to the Hip Hop,Electro,and to all their current forms. 2003-2004, Mr Haze is the bassist of the MANIPULATORS, a Rheims electro-dub band. End 2004,Mr Haze meets The KAYANS reggae band of which he soon becomes the sound engineer and with which he joins forces to develop the System Dub studio. -He starts recording his compositions with the studio’s regular band, composed with a drum & bass rhythmic section, a keyboard,and a guitarist,completed by a flutist for some tracks, while Mr Haze supervises everything behind his mixing console. -The repertoire will be mainly composed with originals songs from both Soul and Roots reggae inspiration, supplemented with some replays of classical riddims from Jamaïcan and international charts. March 27, 2005 Mr Haze experiences his first live concert with the System Dub Band accompanied with 3 guest singers (Marie,N’Dondoman and Azkane), in a café in Rheims (Eastern France) where singers,etc entertain customers. The reception of the audience convinces him of the effectiveness of the formula which he plans to present in future live concerts : a band of musicians and several guest singers ;all being directly mixed and « dubbed » on the spot by himself.
