Platinum Limb, via three instrumentalists of different levels of musical training and interest, is an experiment with sound via traditional and non-traditional instrumentation, often enhanced via effects. The music is largely improvised, and it is indeed experimental; in Platinum Limb, musical ideas come freely and repeatedly from hands and mouths, with each member utilizing enough force and restraint to create a unique, if slightly challenging, whole. The ebbing and flowing nature of the soundscapes allows for ideas to be teased out, with the intent of not provoking the audience to give attention to any one element over another. The results, both recorded and live, range from soft to loud, lighthearted to brooding, rhythmic to disjointed, but always retain an element of newness in the minds of the band members. Platinum Limb would like its audience to appreciate and scrutinize these results simultaneously, and to use the ideas presented as fuel to spark insight within the mind of each audience member.
