Smoke Fish is composed of 4 members, Shay (Guitar /Voice, Keyboards), an Israeli arrived in Brittany (France) in 2003 after backpacking around the world, Jonathan (Guitar, Keyboards), PY (Drums) and Jean Se (Bass).

The quartet’s common influences, such as David Bowie, The Pixies, Pavement, Pulp or even Queen gave birth to a dynamic, genuine and high energy Pop-Rock.

Exploring a vast musical range, from acoustic ballads to more full-on rock material with slight touches of oriental and electronic vibrations, Smoke Fish toys with contrasts to put forth an intense, dream-like and gripping music that opens the doors of the listener’s imagination: A fortunate meeting with the offspring of Lewis Carroll, the everlasting sexual hesitations of Mary, a lustful and suggestive tango with a multitude of prophets or a poker game in the farthest reaches of a Norwegian Asylum… It could be that these situations reveal themselves to be closer to the bone than you think. In other words their songs approach the more universal themes of Freedom and Love … How could they be set aside in today’s world?

The 4 members of Smoke Fish have played on average over 70 concerts a year since their coming together. The band has shared the stage with many renowned French artists such as Yann Tiersen (The composer of the soundtrack to Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s “Amelie”), Christophe Miossec, Da-Silva and Kaolin. The band has also taken part in several festivals, and keeps especially fond memories of the Ilophone festival of Ouessant,

The Band is presently preparing the release of its forthcoming album expected to be out in 2009.

The first single “Mary” is already available as a single.

Smoke Fish se compose de 4 membres, Shay (Chanteur-guitariste), israélien débarqué en Bretagne en 2002 après un périple autour du Monde, Jonathan (Guitariste), Py (Batteur) et JeanSé (Bassiste). Les influences communes du quatuor ont permis de créer une musique résolument pop, principalement inspirée par David Bowie, les Pixies, Pavement, Pulp ou encore Queen.

D’une ballade folk à un song-writing plus rock en passant par quelques sonorités orientales, Smoke Fish joue avec les contrastes et libère une musique qui sait se faire intense, aérienne et prenante ouvrant alors la porte aux divagations et autres rêvasseries… une rencontre fortuite avec la progéniture de Lewis Carroll, les hésitations sexuelles permanentes de Mary, un tango lascif avec une multitude de prophètes en pleine Calabre ou une partie de poker au fin fond d’un asile norvégien… Il se pourrait bien que ces situations soient bien plus proches de la réalité que vous ne le croyez. Plus simplement leurs chansons ont aussi pour thème la liberté, l’amour… Comment faire autrement ?...

Les quatre membres de Smoke Fish ont effectué 70 concerts depuis Juin 2006 dont le tremplin Polysound 2008 à Landerneau qu’ils remportent, leur permettant d’effectuer une pré-production au Run Ar Puns de Châteaulin. Dans la foulée, ils participent au tremplin des jeunes charrues à Carhaix. En septembre 2008, Smoke Fish participe au Festival Ilophone à Ouessant au côté de Christophe Miossec, Yann Tiersen, Da Silva, et Robin Foster et sort à cette occasion un premier single intitulé « Mary ».
