The Evenings are an electric folk pop band, equally influenced by politically driven guitar based folk rock of the late sixties, a category of music now often described as "singer-songwriter" music, and contemporary independent pop. (We do try to make it our own though.) Right.
The Evenings consist of singer Evelyn "Evening" Guse, drummer Mareike Bautz, bassist Cara Berg and guitarrist David Dasenbrook. People have unsuccessfully attempted to call it a girl group (with an additional male musician). Mareike has now replaced the unforgettable Hendrik Frese, who plays the drums on our recordings but who is now living in El Salvador for a year.
It has been stated almost a thousand times that the world we live in continues to push us forward at an astounding pace. It seems like we're stuck in an eternal loop complaining over and over again that everything is changing too fast for us to realize. Too fast for us to dream. To fast for us to even get a chance. Well, as for us, we try to turn this tendency upside down by singing out loudly "Ancient times, I am gone". And maybe this seems like you've heard this sometime before. Like it's been on the news. The Evenings are a band that don't complain about change, but still celebrate an almost never ending dream. A dream made up of the pictures that occasionally decide to pay a quick visit to your mind.
