I use ASIO 4 All (with Reason and Audacity)
    asio4all.com

It reduces the latency of your sound card (playing and recording).
In my computer 45-55ms to 6-10ms
This software saves me money (no need to buy an ASIO sound card)

I use Magix Music Maker 14....very simple to use....although saying that, there's a lot of stuff I still haven't discovered/cracked yet, but easy user interface....

No direct wiki for this, need to go to:

Hi, Ardour is listed as an audio processor which suggests that it's an FX processor or the like when it's really a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).

Couldn't agree more, osaeris. Especially with MIDI coming up in version 3.0 soon. I'm a big, big fan of Ardour.

For MIDI I now use Mu.Lab from http://www.mutools.com/. Very odd program, but it does what it is supposed to do. And with some effort, one could use it as a DAW too. It has MIDI- and Audio-recording, it talks Jack (on OS X too) and it has some very nice softsynths and effects on board.

Oh, and AULab, some sort of simple AU-patchbay. Came with the Developer Tools CD on OS X. I use it because the Crazy Ivan plugin crashes my Ardour, so now I route the audio through that and back into Ardour.

I use 64studio . a linux distribution dedicated just to audio production. I did not see that mentioned anywhere. I used ubuntu studio for short while but went back to 64studio.
