The Chilling Spirit is now moderating these forums

    Yes, he is. :)

I convinced Jamendo to let me moderate the English and German forums. Jamendo's participation there has been very sparse and no-one really seemed to keep an eye. I spend lots of time here and I am interested in Jamendo's success (more free music for me, yay), so this idea manifested itself.

So what am I going to do:

-Collecting bug reports and try to organise them in a sticky post.
    -Acknowledging and forwarding problems.
-Moving all the promotion posts into the promotion forum (only newly posted ones, otherwise my brain would implode. I might do that occasionally.).
    -Removing Spam.
    -De-escalate when needed.
-What ever else is needed (suggestions are always welcome), I think I had something in mind but just forgot what it was.

I will try to appear as some sort of buffer or relay between the forum visitors and Jamendo.

Note: Nothing I do or say officially represents Jamendo. Of course I try to "present" Jamendo in a good way (that is my motivation) but what I do and say is my personal opinion. If I do stupid things or you have a problem with me and you feel that I am hurting the site, please do tell Jamendo.

    Thats a great news.

English and German forums were always hungry for a mod. And we finally are getting it. And who be it but Chilling Spirit! Excellent news! Keep up the good work comrade ;-)

    Congratulations, Chilling!

It's not going to be easy though, because of the occasional conflict of interest since you're also a forum poster. You often express strong personal opinions on some things and hence disagreements can arise if your personal views (which are not those of Jamendo) conflict with other posters' views. You will certainly be tempted to use your moderation powers to enforce your personal views --- it's in the nature of power to affect people in this way.

Do you have a charter for yourself to avoid any abuse of power arising? It's a very serious topic.

Yes, the Italian forum does not have a moderator. Patience!
Weronika not have time to follow it.

Joke! But I hope you are right. I know your thoughts in the past and I know you're a balanced person. This is important to be a moderator. But if jamendo wrong, you must be sincere. I wish you a good job. Ciao!:jumping:

Chilling, is it possible to add services to your job spec?

For example, I see that you'll be moving promotional posts into Promotion, which is excellent. But how about moving random other threads that have nothing to do with Jamendo (such as political ones) into Off-Topic as well? We seem to be getting quite a lot of them, and they're clearly misplaced since Jamendo make it very clear that the General forum is intended to be about Jamendo, explicitly.

I thought about the "power thing" myself when the idea came and I know that most of the time, power makes me kinda scared in a good way. If there is a red button and I could press it, I am very much aware of the doom it would bring. So don't be afraid that I will abuse my "power". Probably I will much rather not enter heated discussions with my own opinion anymore. ;)

To keep some kind of log I documented each and every important thing I did (deletions, not moves) so far in a textfile. I guess I could keep that online to be transparent.

Yes, I will move offtopic to offtopic too, thanks! Those list of things I'll do are just my own ideas so any suggestions etc are very welcome.

What an interesting idea, I've never seen a moderator do that before for transparency on any forum. Maybe they weren't interested in transparency, hehe.

Someone around Jamendo needs to do more than moderate. Someone needs to FIX the problems, especially with uploading. Both Jamloader and Jamloader web are so full of bugs and page misdirects that it's ridiculous. And support is nowhere in site. I'd say "Jamendo Sucks" but that would be an understatement at this point, due to my frustration level.

Oh no! The English forums have become an orphan again on Jamendo :-(

    Why are you retiring Chilling?

Nothing special, just the same frustration you all feel. Bugs being resurrected without notice (hello stuck counters) etc.

Jamendo MIGHT finally get a news/development blog or something like that though. Let's hope for the best.
