[Sticky] Known Bugs

  1.  permalink
This thread is meant to list bugs of any kind.
Please do not discuss bugs or speculate in here (just create a new discussion if you want to).
Post only bug reports of tested and "verified" bugs.

    How to "verify" a bug
Well, just try to make sure it is not something misconfiguration at your end, for example:
-try a different browser (bugs might be browser-specific though, those should be reported).
-use the latest version of whatever software the bug occurs in.
-turn off any addons in your browser.
-make sure that cookies, Javascript (and Flash) are enabled.
-make sure no malware protection (antivirus, (personal) firewall, IP blocker, etc) is "protecting" you from Jamendo.

If you are not sure if what you are experiencing is an actual bug, please just post a new discussion and let others have a look.

    Acknowledged Bugs:
(the #number is Jamendo's internal ticket number)

-Frontpage, WatchWords: If you have no WatchWords configured, you will get random alerts. [Original post]. Work-around: Set a random watchword like abcdef123123.
    [Ticket #1822]

-Friend invitation e-mails: Link within the E-Mail is broken if the username contains spaces. [Original post 1, Original post 2].
    [Ticket #2165]

-Album Search/Browse: Search for "albums that need reviews" is listing albums that already got reviews: http://www.jamendo.com/en/albums?order=needreviews_desc
    [Ticket #2166]

-Forums: Each discussion has a link "Top of Page" at the bottom that points to the anchor #pgtop. #pgtop however does not exist (seems like a needless feature anyways).
    [Ticket #2167]

-Search: The search is useless if you want to find eg. "Los Faltones" but not just anything that's got "Los": "Los Rápidos", "Los Arcanos", "Los Muflos" or "Los Chicharrines. http://www.jamendo.com/en/search/all/Los%20Faltones
Search terms should be search by an logical AND, not OR.
    [Ticket #1907]

-Groups seem not to linked anywhere: http://www.jamendo.com/en/groups
[Not a bug, Groups are in a "beta" (testing) stadium.]

-Search on torrent.jamendo.com: Pagination is broken. Searching for http://torrents.jamendo.com/en/ogg/search?q=rock and clicking on page 2, gives http://torrents.jamendo.com/en/ogg/search?pn=2 . Even manually added it does not work: http://torrents.jamendo.com/en/ogg/search?q=rock&pn=2 . This however works: http://torrents.jamendo.com/en/ogg/tag/rock&pn=2 [Original Post]
    [Ticket #2168]

-Broken pagination on "people who agreed to a review" listing: When you want to browse the list of people that agreed with a review, whichever page you click on, you'll just get the first one. Try it on http://www.jamendo.com/fr/album/2225/review_detail?review_id=22323 (thanks remed).
    [Ticket #2080]

-Userpage: Starred playlist of USERNAME appear USERNAME's playlist even when someone else created them. For example on Kraftim's profile: http://www.jamendo.com/en/user/KraftiM (thanks remed).
    [Ticket #2391]

-IM addresses not spam protected: http://www.jamendo.com/en/user/USERNAME/edit/personnal states "These addresses will be displayed in your profile with anti-spam filters" for the instant messaging addresses. In reality however, they are plain text in the HTML (whereas the email address is nicely obfuscated in Javascript (that could be mentioned positively, heh)).
    [Ticket #2251]

    -http://www.jamendo.com/community/ links to deprecated languages:
    http://www.jamendo.com/community/ links to
    http://www.jamendo.com/pt/forums/discussions/
    http://www.jamendo.com/sv/forums/discussions/
    http://www.jamendo.com/cs/forums/discussions/
    http://www.jamendo.com/eo/forums/discussions/
    Those are redirected to http://www.jamendo.com/en/forums/discussions/
This is not nice as people sometimes assume those forums exist and post in there, their post then ends up in /en/ and causes confusion.
    [will be fixed]

-long IM addresses are not fully displayed: Check http://www.jamendo.com/en/user/The%20Chilling%20Spirit (this one is a mean little bug, sorry :) )
    [Ticket #2392]

-Messed up reviews (and associated counters): http://www.jamendo.com/artist/Lindalou_and_Michael_Ryge says "14 reviews" for http://www.jamendo.com/album/23777
On http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/23777 it says "9" while 10 reviews are listed. Page 2 of the reviews is broken, no reviews are listed (the space is blank).
The "Filter by language" dropdown lists "English (0)" while there are 5 english reviews (which are displayed normally when filtered).
    [Original Post]
This happens on other (all?) albums too. The language with "0" reviews is always the current language on the site /fr/, /en/, /de/ etc.
    [Ticket #2393 + #2394]

-Refreshing Javascript/Private Messages: The Inbox->Message view (where you can enter a reply) refreshes (and thus entered text might be gone), example http://www.jamendo.com/en/user/USERNAME/inbox/123456
    [Ticket #2397]

    -Errors on http://www.jamendo.com/user/USERNAME/edit/personnal for states.
Estonia: Correct ones are here. Thanks to j077.
    Germany: Niedereachsen -> Niedersachsen, Baden-Wurttemberg -> Württemberg
    Denmark: Kíbenhavn -> København
    [Ticket #2430]

    Bugs with unknown status:

-Looking at X's review of some album shows "%s wants to be your friend" instead of X's username if X has a pending friend request with you.

-Clicking "Agree with this review" turns into ??REVIEW_USER_AGREED??. On a page refresh the proper "You have agreed with this review" appears.

-Reviews with no text in the body have no buttons to comment or agree. For example many on this user's page: http://www.jamendo.com/user/goneri

-Changing an avatar is very slow and often leads to a time-out. Sometimes the avatar has been changed properly but the user still gets a timeout (and after refreshing or visiting another page a "Your avatar has been edited" message appears).
[Original Post] I tried it and got 3 time-outs but then had no issues changing it 5 times (different sizes, formats, filesizes) afterwards).

    -editing/deleting playlists sometimes times-out

-Occasionally artists with albums pending publication get an empty mail with subject "ARTIST_CERTIFICATION_LEVEL2_REFUSED_MAIL". [Post 1, Post 2]. (Even before fixing it would be nice what causes this or what it means so one can resolve it.)

-API: http://www.jamendo.com/get2/name/track/plain/album_user_starred/?user_idstr=The%20Chilling%20Spirit&n=10 gives somewhat random results (not from user's starred albums). I know it is not intended to ask for tracks with album_user_starred (I had a weird hope, heh), but the response should probably be an error.

-API: The API gives the "Jamendo - update" page again (with http://img.jamendo.com/update.jpg) if one (accidentaly or unknowningly) gives it a query to hard (something with n=all and lots of results for example). It should give an error fitting the format and/or some http error code. This happened before (several months ago) so maybe some revert/copy'n'paste is the cause.

-This happened to remed: I has starred the artist Oscar Brent months ago, but no album from him. and yesterday I starred one of his albums and the artist is now my latest starred artist. http://www.jamendo.com/en/user/remed

-Mails that contain usernames that got spaces in them, have those links point to eg http://www.jamendo.com/en/user/The Chilling Spirit
If the recipient uses a mail program that displays mails as text (as it is good practise) those links will most probably be broken into http://www.jamendo.com/en/user/The Chilling Spirit
Fix: Use the usual %20 for spaces in links also in the mails: http://www.jamendo.com/en/user/The%20Chilling%20Spirit

-Layout is broken when trying to share an deleted track. Example: http://www.jamendo.com/track/122248/share

-"Download $albumtitle" link (upper left) on non-popup download page is pointing to http://www.jamendo.com/en/signup
    Should be "Home > Music > Albums > $albumtitle" I guess. Example: http://www.jamendo.com/en/download/album/39294/

-The RecentChanges link in the Wiki's footer points nowhere. It should point to http://developer.jamendo.com/[language]/wiki/Special:RecentChanges

-Links to Ogg Vorbis torrent files are garbled. They point to http://www.jamendo.com/fr/DOWNLOAD_P2P.ogg3.bittorrent

-This affects all of the recently added "onclassical" advertisements: The page title suggests downloading the album, yet this is not possible.

-This affects all of the recently added "onclassical" advertisements: On each artist's page the albums have "download" buttons. Clicking it leads to "Download of this file is not authorized".

    - On http://torrents.jamendo.com the HTML titles for the links Upload, Community and Creative Commons are missing the first three letters. The other links have no titles.

-The permalinks in the forums are garbled, eg clicking a permalink for #Item_22 gets the post one above post #22.

    Update from your posts .

-The english text on search results is faulty. The number of search results appears in the wrong place. Example: http://www.jamendo.com/en/search/all/wayne
Your "295" search yielded wayne results among: should probably be Your "wayne" search yielded 295 results among: but I would recommend Your search for "wayne" yielded 295 results among:

-The german text on search results is wacky, for example "16 Ergebnisse von alben" is bad German and the "alben" should be uppercase "Alben". I suggest you use the verb "finden/gefunden", example: "16 gefundene Alben". That is much nicer. (It is not the only problem, pretty much the entire language on that page needs an overhaul). ;)

-The search results are different per language, example:
    298: http://www.jamendo.com/fr/search/all/wayne
    295: http://www.jamendo.com/de/search/all/wayne
    295: http://www.jamendo.com/en/search/all/wayne
    299: http://www.jamendo.com/it/search/all/wayne
    293: http://www.jamendo.com/pl/search/all/wayne
    293: http://www.jamendo.com/es/search/all/wayne
    293: http://www.jamendo.com/ru/search/all/wayne
    293: http://www.jamendo.com/br/search/all/wayne

-The search results are buggy. A search for "wayne" lists artists and albums with no "wayne" at all. Make sure you regard the above problem.

Seconding Phopha, it's happening to me too.
I tried uploading a .jpg avatar both with Firefox and IE, and I got blanks instead.
Also, I cannot upload .png or .gif files, even though otherwise is specified in the menu.

Hm, I tried and managed fine to upload JPG and GIF, replacing my PNG avatar. Then I switched back to PNG and tried uploading a different PNG, that did not work (still showed the old one). Same for JPG. I did not try GIF.
This might just be an caching issue, I'll keep an eye on it (if you see my avatar read "JPEG TEST 2" then it is).
  15.  permalink
Yes, now my new avatar showed up. So just upload the new image and wait a day, heh.

-Caching of user images (avatars, probably artist images too (maybe they are the same?)) is cached to un-nicely. Changes should appear immediately.

-Adding tracks from http://www.jamendo.com/album/7110 to a playlist leads to missing information (no title, artist etc) in the playlist. Examples: http://www.jamendo.com/playlist/109761 and http://www.jamendo.com/playlist/110059

-There are issues with album publishing and moderation. People get "your album is published" when it is still in moderation or they get "your album is published" mails day for day.

In Songbird every click on play will just play the music you heard the first time when you visited jamedo. Someone has obviously done a great work of integrating jamendo into songbird - but if on clicking play you allways get the same music - it's no fun.....

Dunno if this is a bug in songbird (1.1.1) or jamendo.

I have tried uploading album tracks in http://www.jamendo.com/en/upload/step1.1 using Firefox 3 bundled with Fedora 10. The progress bar does not 'progress' at all and stays at 0%. Same is happening when Using Opera 9.6 on the same OS. I will try to post the JSON response I am getting from the server (i do not have access to the info now as I am currently in IE7/Vista just to upload tracks).

I also encountered problems using the rpm version of the Jamloader software under Fedora 10. The progress stays in 'Converting' status.

I am currently uploading tracks in IE7 on Vista and so far it is progressing. Does this mean that the upload form is not compatible with Firefox/Opera on Linux? I am sure I am not the only who uses Firefox/Opera on Linux...

Ok while I am in my beach mode. Heres what we see as I login (was the same with the last album a month or so ago too)

Hot this week : Congratulations, your album has been published!
Your album has just been moderated and is now available for streaming and download at this URL: http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/42673

Enter our commercial programs to make money

Of course then go to album link they show.....

Your album is being moderated. You will be informed by email when it's published.
Once it's online, you will be able to share it with the community and your friends.
Don't forget to fill out your artist profile and write a description of your album in order to increase your visibility.

And the download for others shows this file not available...

I just logged out and it doesnt show at least but put the widget on your website (it plays)

At Songbird they are looking if they can find any mistake. However I'm not so sure anymore that it really is a Songbird and not maybe Jamendo error. I just freshly installed Songbird on my Ubuntu partition and upon starting I got the same dreaded songs as under windows onto songbird. I had not changed my IP inbetween. I see no way that songbird on ubuntu could know what song I had heard with windows and songbird some days ago?????

I was not yet logged into Jamendo when this happened.

Edit: Nicolas from Jamendo is onto it. Seems that the bug is at least somehow related to Jamendo. Discussion is going on here: http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/topics/jamendo_com_freely_liscensed_music_webpage_broken

For the moment simply DON'T CLICK on the PLAY button on jamendo inside Songbird.
"Currently Songbird only works with album, playlist and top pages.
We are working on making every "Play" buttons work with Songbird." - by Nicolas

Trying to listen to Maya but the player download(buffering?) is so slow or something. It stops and starts and is real annoying. Love your music though
it would be nice to hear it all at once.

For the SECOND time, my album (uploaded from perfect wav master files downmixed from Cubase, the same I used to make the original copies which are perfect) results badly encoded by jamendo, it sounds somehow corrupted, there are little glitches in some songs (and in the SAME places as the first time).
    Can't anyone help me?

In the downloadpackages Jamendo is offering, the artwork is ruined by shrinking it to a lousy 4k jpg

I sent a mail to support@jamendo.com more than a week ago but no answer.... Please Amelie or Sylvinus....

    http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/44927

WHY is in the downloadfile from my album Phogs only a 4k jpeg sleevepicture, though i sent you a nice big file ??? I think this is terrible for Ffm who put a lot of energy in the design, and terrible for my fans to recieve such a lousy jpeg. Please correct asap...

    Thanks

about the artwork: maybe jamendo makes it small so it's best readable for mp3-players with small lcd screens (just guessing)

    Hi all,

I'm trying to upload a 463MB FLAC file using JamLoader Web and get the message:

    The page at http://www.jamendo.com says:
    UPLOAD_error_file_too_large

I don't want to edit this performance. It is one long piece with no breaks.

What is the maximum file size for uploads?

Is there a work around for this?

    PLAYLISTS TO FAVORITES

    Minor bug, but still confusing.

Playlists from several users can be listet to ones favorites.
That's a feature of Jamendo i highly appreciate.
Because it puts tracks into a context, when the playlist is an arrangement
(and not just an unsorted accumulation of tracks)
Some tracks you wouldn't have listened to normally sometimes fit perfectly in another combination.
It's comparable to the Jamendo Radios.

Most users even are not aware of this fine application possibility at Jamendo:

    1. Because the creator isn't listet as "owner".
The name of the one who put the playlist to its favorites is listet instead " Starred playlist by ..."
This way it doesn't make much sense, visitors not being able to trace back the user who might have more interesting playlists.
OK, i know you just have to click at the playlists name.
But it is no immediate access, misdirecting because not visible.

    2. To add someone elses playlist to your favorites is too intricate.
You can directly play the playlist, but have to "show" it first before being able to starr it.
Why not moving the buttons to the fore? (like for the albums)

To add others playlists to your own side is mostly used by the artists.
When you look at their site and all you see are playlists with their own tracks
it leaves a wrongful bitter aftertaste of the artists selfishness.

The bug-fix can't be that hard i suppose as it is just a matter of correct linking.
And moving the buttons to the fore would also be an improvement with little complexity.
    How about it?

Many thanks for all that has already been done!

auto refresh clears comments if the page is opened for too long or something. I wondered off to check something in another tab and by the time I got back to finish my review there was none. :cry:Dissapointing.

New Administration page is a disaster!

I don't need to continually administer old albums. I usually only need to administer new albums.

Why not list albums with the most recent first?

New paging feature is especially annoying! I have to page through 60+ albums to get to the newest upload! This is truly awful!

Adding the album description and editing the track name links are BROKEN!!!

Please fix this! It is a complete mess!

I just send the following email to support@jamendo.com:

    Dear Jamendo,

I uploaded a new album to Jamendo yesterday, the 68th for artist ARTSomerville.

I can not access any administration functions through the Administration page: http://www.jamendo.com/en/artist/artsomerville/admin . When I click on the links for:

    * Album properties
    * Edit your album information (title, description, release date)
    * Edit tracks (titles, lyrics, delete)

It take me to a page with features like "Hot This Week" and "JamNews" but no edit funcions are available on that page. The edit funcitons are missing.

    Suggestion:

The Administration page now shows only the first ten albums with a link "Albums suivants" at the bottom of the page. It would simply be better to list the albums in reverse order, with the newest albums at the top of the page. Artists usually want to enter album information and track titles for their most recent upload, and if that appeared at the top of the page that would be the fastest and easiest way to get the work done. As it is now, I have to click seven times, paging through earlier albums one at a time, to get to the bottom of the list and the most recent upload. The paging is fine, just reverse the order of the album list, and if you keep the paging, please include links for all pages, something like:

    <Previous - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 - Next>

Please consider doing this, and please contact me when it is again possible to edit album properties from my Administration page.

    Thank you.
