Bonjour,

'Angle de Rue', is a two track instrumental, Jazzy-Easy Listening Hybrid album. The Two Tracks in this Album are as distinct as Night and Day. One Song is STRONGLY Jazz of mixed character as in Bit of Smooth, Ragtime and Pure-Unadulterated Jazz that also incorporates a Touch of Rock. The remaining work is an "Inspired Native" Composition. Track #1.' Angle De Rue', starts with a Glittering Jazz Club Lounge Sound with Piano and Acoustic Guitar Playing off each other in an Lively Duet. The Song undergoes a Transformation and the Ragtime-esque Vibe Enters. The Style switches to more of a Swing Band Feel with Full Drum Kit and Electric Guitar adding to Instrumentation. Piano remains strong but with less of the early "Lounge Sound". Transformation #3--shifts the work into a Slower more Mellow Mode and adds Acoustic String Bass to the Mix then Transformation #4 Begins and the Song adds a Rock Guitar Riff to the Jazzy Essence. Keep in mind the track is only 5:38 in length! Track #2. 'Place Du Village', Captures, depending on the Listener's experiences/perspective, the Essence of a African Village Marketplace. A Strongly Xylophone and Flute( Native and Western) Driven Melody with an Abundance of Tribal Drumming. Electric Bass adds a Nice Low Tone that is constant but not overwhelming is literally hidden in plain sight. Electric Guitar adds a Unique Rhythmic Riff that is neither Rock nor Jazz. Overall, a Very Well put Together Twosome. Listeners who are not Fans of Jazz really should take the to listen to both tracks before drawing a conclusion.

"Angle de rue" Super Jazz piano entry with much well phrased emphasis that captured the feel of a up beat slick moving style. By the time the full spectrum of instruments entered, a theme was already set in place and all that was added was the embellishment, mainly from guitar and excellent percussion. The Blues guitar entangled with the fast paced Jazz percussion was inspiring. A fast and fantastically moving work. "Place du village" The heavy use of pipes aren't a favourite of mine. However, I think Guy carried this off quite well. The repeated riff-like theme held by the pipes enabled other more subtle sub-themes and melodies to enter the fray. Personally, I would have attenuated the pipes to give a little more clarity to the emerging melodies that were struggling to be heard. I think this was a solid and well performed collection that had much variety within the pieces. The mixed styles and pace of the Jazz in "Angle de rue" was superbly done and brought to light a little of creativity of the artist. Pace, style and variety, the hallmark of a true artist.
