DownTown Strut

After a couple of months of not doing anything with music I got the urge to put a new album together--and since I had some free time I hauled out the old machine.

That's when I got a big surprise: It's this music that's bothering my ears (just like before) if deafens me somehow (and no, I don't play it loud--I have my computer set at level 10 out of 100 because I have very good hearing--maybe too good? Maybe it's how much I concentrate to hear it over and over again.)

Two days after I started again(and had finished the fourth piece) I felt a little deaf, then my ears started popping and crackling like before.

So, this is my last work--it's just not meant to be. I couldn't even do a full album--but I managed to do four pieces before the problems set in again.

I listened to them one more time before uploading and they all sound muffled--I know they aren't. So now I really have to stop, period--unless someone has an answer and if you do I'd really like to hear it. And yes, that's a pun--but I'm serious about listening to you. And yes, that's another pun. But I am serious. (Let me point out that I have excellent hearing and I do use 'quality' earphones but I do all the time for the computer and TV--so that doesn't make any sense because I use the same earphones to do my music.) However, better to save my hearing since this problem only happens when I 'compose'.

Anyway, since I couldn't/wouldn't finish it, at least you're spared the story that was going to go with it.

Enjoy and thanks everyone for all your listening.

Dear GingerTom, I have made the decision to quit writing reviews . . . maybe because of the ringing in my head . . but then maybe not . . :-D I have decided to break from that decision, though, to write an open letter to you . .. That's not a review is it? Mostly I want to address your album, because you've always been so nice to me and I think that you deserve to be addressed . . . For one thing, you risked your health to create some music for our entertainment . . .. When I came to work and found that I had a lot of things to do and needed a little kick-start (more than my CoFfEe provides) I chose this album to provide that for me, and it was perfect . . . Your music is always very dynamic, energetic and exuberant and I think it expresses your voice, perfectly . . . We all have a creative voice, that we CRAVE to share . .. and yours is this brightly shining music . . . and being so happy that you share it with us . .. I'm eternally grateful that I get a chance to hear what GingerTom has to say . . . because, somehow it reaches right into my heart and gives it a little thumpy bump that makes me smile . . . I can imagine you there, at your computer, with your headphones on. . . listening intensely to your music . . . trying to find the right levels and sounds . . the emotions and feelings . . . the nuances . . each tiny note . . . and as you strain to hear each iota of difference between one moment and the next . . . your brain, soul and ears are locked into your composition . . and the power of your music invades to the nth degree and perhaps burns a few nerve ends . . . and maybe this is why your ears hurt after working on your music . . . maybe it's that you give your all . . . In appreciation for your good work, I wish to say thank you . . .. so I will . . .. Thank you, GT . . . Sincerely, your friend, - Barbara

Structurally close to perfection, this set of tracks filled with singleness and musicality, combine in a very interesting and stimulating aggregate of sonorities, which we associate practically from the start and almost easily with the musician's name. Almost easily, because, despite some general similarities amongst his several albums... and which are also related with some characteristics from his base of work... he always manages to surprise us, every now and then, with some extra ingenuity and inventive capacity. The comprehensive musicality of his inspiration and perseverance, does the rest.
