Un belle album a qui fait figure d'ovni dans ma playlist Jamendo, je ne saurais pas vraiment expliquer pourquoi mais les titres me plaise énormément, le son et la production sont très marquer et rendent le tout très cohérent, on trouve tout au long de l'écoute des petites trouvailles notamment au niveaux des voix et des rythmes, contribuant a défricher des sentiers rarement emprunté par la pop ...

Ok the 10/10 mark I've just given is mainly because : – I like this album and, – I don't know on what basis to judge this album. I mean, sound is good, composition is strange but I like it, voices are not terrific but they're ok and they serve this style pretty well. How am I supposed to give a mark? Well some pieces are a bit boring sometimes. Just not as good as the others. But overall if there are less interesting songs, the only thing you have to do is listen to this album while doing something else… and then just stop what you are doing when something in the album catches your ear. Hope you don't mind this approach to your music? One more thing: I wanted to say that « I am a raft » is one of the better songs, but then there was « I am a pyramide scheme » (which surprised me) and then « I am a hotel ». Just too hard to pick one song over the other ones. I'm downloading this for sure. One last thing : « I am a pyramide scheme » reminded me of Life Vest's « Instant » album. Puedo sentir el viento en mi piel con las canciones de Pompey. Es tan lúdico, imaginativo, experimental. Es un viaje en sí mismo. The Tanuki es una canción preciosa, me sentí parada en Hong Kong, algo parecido me pasó con The salt. A mi juicio, dos de las mejores canciones. La portada del disco también está creativa, me gusta ese juego de palabras de Pompeya contra Vesubio, me parece bien escogido por lo enigmático. Este album es un riesgo bien tomado.

Voila le genre d'album que j'aime découvrir sur Jamendo ! De la pop assez particulière qui ne rime pas avec banalité ou vulgarité, en effet cet album oscille entre chansonnette expérimentale et pop élégante. Certaines pistes comme (03) i am a sack et (05) the salt, m'ont évoqué Laurie Anderson. D'autres titres plus pop comme (04)"Semaphore and basin" (magique) et (03) "I will not be cross if crossed", me font vraiment penser aux premiers albums de The Nits (gros compliment, car pour moi c'est ce que la pop a produit de mieux) Pour conclure il s'agit d'un album d'une grande fraîcheur avec un son magique qui pourrait par exemple plaire aux amateurs du premier album de Poun sur Jamendo et insupporter un très grand nombre d'auditeurs aussi. Les 16 pistes sont assez inégales à mon goût car certaines un peu trop monotones et soporifiques, mais il y a largement moyen de se faire sa propre playlist. J'aime beaucoup la pochette qui est tout à fait dans l'esprit du contenu.

what more can i say? i just listened to the album once. there are a lot of things happening in the songs and it happens in a beautiful way. i also like how the songs develop in time and i'm curious how they will develop from now on. p.s. i think my favourite at the moment is "i wish i was drunk"
