About this album

  • Updated: 26/02/2008

"Forget about cool" is a short, diverse EP. I've taken a lot of care with the lyrics - click on the songs to see them.

----------------------------

The first song, "Armchair activist blues", is a satirical country-blues song. I'm taking the piss out of a heap of different people, including myself. We all have a bit of the armchair activist in us, don't we?

"Pure loving" is an alternative-pop-rock song about my feelings for my wife, and also a few thoughts on attempts to commoditize love. I've done quite a bit of work on this since Yesterday's Conversation.

"Very confused and isolated" is a alternative-folk-rock song (in the spirit of Nick Cave and others) about how people can end up in terrible situations and incredibly messed-up through no fault of their own.

"Forget about cool" is a fun jazz-rock-punk song with a big, self-indulgant guitar solo (sorry about that). I've realised recently that the idea of 'cool' is just such a crap one - hope you like the lyrics!

----------------------------

I think the quality of these recordings is much better than on my other album here. I'd appreciate any opinions, comments or advice...
