Almost discordant in places, it seems messy to start, yet whence order comes from chaos, so there is a method to this musical madness, I feel. Sure enough it emerges slowly and surely, still stretching the boundaries. So is, Did You Lost Your Meal Ticket, perhaps a simple typographical error, maybe deliberate. Either way, I have never had one. Very strong on bass, good speakers needed to cope, but it is so worth it. Really quite like this one. Hey You, a loosely gathered set on sensational noise and rhythm experimentation. Sometimes there is no 'understanding', just experiencing. The melody trickles by and the whole thing tickles my audio taste buds tantalisingly.
Minimalism, much to my delight, is not everyone's cup of tea. For me, that is part of it's appeal, but I also like space to move around. Saying that you don't like it, is like saying you don't like the black spaces in films because you can't see anything. Maybe it is a fear of the unknown quantity coming into play, but then that has always been an attraction for me rather than a repulsion. Stop Watching The Moon, is like saying to a kid 'don't jump into the pool'. There is a strange compulsive allurement. We are mostly consisting of water, and yet people would rather have a beer, implying they find water boring, yet it constitutes the majority of our physiognomy. Compliant tidal pull.
I even think the length of the track is part of this expression, the moon exerts an unending influence on us and our surroundings, even when we cannot see it with our naked eye. So, too does this track draw me in and push me back out of a level of consciousness achieved by its influence on me. Nicely done. Sufferance. Now, doesn't that speak volumes. I'd rather listen to this than be stuck behind a desk for ten hours a day, slaving over a crumb-filled keyboard. This one is quite subtle and tenuous in some respects, but then isn't that sufferance? Suffer in silence, put up with your lot. Music is a creative expression that can take on many different forms.
There is so much mindless dross floating around our marketplace, much of it centering around the display of various body parts, that have their own crass allure. For someone of my disposition, which I will grant is not 'normal', I find this manner of such creativity much more appealing and satisfying. It conveys much more to me than a pair of breasts anyway. And, for the record, I prefer water to beer. It is cleaner these days, as a general rule in our wonderfully Westernized culture. Line-Dot-Line rounds up the album, and leaves me wanting mor(s)e. Which there is, and I will be back for more, moreso I have the impression that it won't disappoint me either. Nice work.
